Trying to plan the PERECT trip for my lil' man

I have been trying to plan a trip for me, my Dh and my DS but i am stuck on a few things and need some help.

I have been to Disney world over 10 times, but haven't been since 2000. This is the first trip i am planning my self. DH has never been, neither has my DS who is 2.5 yrs.
We recently moved to south florida and being this close to the magic, I really have the Disney itch!

My DH and I are serious foodies so I want to go during free dining. But i am torn over where to stay. My son still takes naps mid-day so I want someplace that is easy to access and realtively quite, as well as affordable. I was leaning towards a mod. like French quarter. But i also think POP might not be bad. Any suggestions? We plan on being there for 7 days so we need to be comfortable, mostly for my fussy sleeper ( DS not DH LOL).

I want this trip to be everthing that disney means to me! I want my guys to see why I am so obsessed. But being i am planning this for the first time i need advice. I really want to book my trip feeling I got the BEST VALUE and experience out of the vacation.

I think you'd be happy at POFQ, but one way to get much easier access and atmosphere w/o the cost is to stay at WL. There is boat access to MK (and then monorail access to Epcot) and that way only busses are to DHS and AK. The theming is beautiful, the pool is great- and even though it's deluxe, it's still cheaper then the monorail resorts or YC/BC.

One caution, you can plan a great trip, you can plan a memorable trip, you cannot plan a perfect trip. There will be some challenges, there will be unexpected issues; be prepared for that, and you'll have a much better time- I promise!

Anyway you can stay on the monorail at a Deluxe hotel like the Contemporary. It would be easier to return back mid-day from MK & Epcot? We are taking my 3 year old DD & 1 year old DS in Sept for free dining and are staying at the Bay Lake Tower Villas at the Contemporary. Those are expensive (my parents are coming too), but they have a family living room/kitchen.
