DH and I will be doing a trip in January, staying in AKV and then BLT. We have 2 hopper passes each and a 1 day MK pass each (long story) to use for this trip. We will be staying in studios as we are using up points that need to be used and I will also have to buy one-time use points.

Here are my two scenarios (using the current posted times and EasyWDW) that I can't decide between:

3 nights AKV, 3 nights BLT (less points to buy)
Sun - check into AKV
Mon - Relax
Tues - AK/ break at resort/ E (emh p.m.) mostly for dinner and Illuminations
Wed - check out/check in to BLT; explore by monorail/relax
Thurs - MK
Fri - E/walk to HS? and have FP+ for this park/break at resort/E for dinner and Illuminations

OR

2 nights AKV, 4 nights BLT (more points to buy)
Sun - check into AKV
Mon - Relax
Tues - (pack up and have Disney take bags to BLT) bus to AK/bus to check into BLT/ E (emh p.m.)
Wed - Relax OR MK ( p.m. emh) - not "recommended"
Thurs - MK OR Relax if we did MK day before
Fri - E/walk to HS?/E

DH has not stayed at either resort. I stayed at both with DD last year during the Princess Half Marathon.

I feel like my second plan is a little too rushed on Tuesday morning, but we will have the convenience of the monorail coming "home" from E in the evening.

I am not a thrill ride person (DH is, but I don't know how much he cares to do alone this trip), and this is more a trip for us to enjoy being together without the kids.

This may belong more in the Theme Park Strategies forum, but I really am asking for thoughts on dividing my resort stays corresponding to the best park itinerary.

Any thoughts?

I like your first plan 3+3. Take it easy and enjoy yourself, DH needs time to check things out so you can add or remove these resorts from your favorites list.

:earsboy: Bill

I also like plan #1 better. It seems to spread things out more evenly and give you time to enjoy both the resorts thoroughly.

If DH has not been at either resort I think plan 1 is the way to go. Two nights is not enough time to get the feel of the resort. You need that down time to really "get" the mood!

Plan1. Heads up that Disney is now charging $25 to move your luggage to the new resort.

Really?! Thanks for the info! I'd rather pay for a cab and travel with my bags (Plan 1).
Me too:confused3 We didn't want to possibly wait till the end of the day so we took a cab instead. It is SAD though if this benefit has been eliminated for those that don't want to pay the cab fare.:mad:

we did a split stay last month and weren't charged a thing to move luggage. Pretty sure that was a rumor from months back.

We have done many splits....just look at my signature. UGH We always try try try to split at least 3 nights at one resort, but prefer 4 or 5 at each resort. In a perfect vacation world I wouold split 7 and 7. LOL :yay:

My friend came back last week and told me she was charged twenty five dollars to have bell services move her luggage from Wilderness lodge to the Boardwalk Inn. I don't know when it started just that it was one of a few things that caught her off guard.

If guests start moving their own luggage Bell Services can not be happy. They will lose tips on both ends of the move.

The cab companies will be happy and bell services unhappy if that is going to be standard practice to charge for moving luggage. I didn't mind paying the tip to the Bell Services CMs, but I will not pay to have luggage delivered from one Disney resort to another.

Agree, we don't mind tipping, but not paying $25, we can get a cab for cheaper and then it's available at the new resort. I'm waiting for them to start charging for Magic Express...no rumors, but can see it happening more $$$ for disney.
