Okay so I am a week away and I am JUST starting to pack. This is completely unlike me! This is the first major trip we are taking with 16 month old DD. We will be in Disney for 2 weeks and I have the ability to do laundry.

Question...how many outfits should I pack DD??? I was thinking a weeks worth of clothes because I can do laundry, but then I got thinking...whenever we visit my parents for the weekend I bring 2 sets per day because "you never know" with little ones. Going off this I would be bringing 14 outfits. I am packing half of her wardrobe!!!

Thanks for the input...just looking to see what others have done!!

Decide how often you are willing to do laundry and plan accordingly. When I traveled with young ones, I could not stand to have stained or smelly clothes in the room for more than a few days (same rule for DH's stuff :lmao: ) and would do laundry every 2 or 3 days. But, I wanted a variety of clothes, too.

So, take into account how often you are willing to do laundry and how many sets of clothes you would like to have for her. I would take about 6 or 7 outfits for the length of time you are planning.

I totally agree with the PP, plan on doing laundry more often. Less to pack and clutter up your room will make your life easier. Also with a 16mo you will have plenty of time to do laundry when she is napping. If you plan on swimming take at least 2 suits, so you have a dry one to put on her.

Okay the best advice I could give you is DON'T FORGET THE DIAPERS!!!

Seriously I spent so much time packing clothes and other stuff that we forgot to put the diapers in the suitcase. I had the diapers ready to pack, but after repacking the bag so many times the diapers dropped onto the floor and were pushed under the bed forgotten. THEY ARE WICKED EXPENSIVE at the baby care center!

I'm just saying.

Remember your swimmy pants. I'd bring onesies and cute skirts - make it easy and make it cool for her. It's hot there right now. HATS - sunscreen - bring a white cotton blanket to hang over your stroller - it keeps the sun off her when she's sleeping. Pick up a stroller fan before you go - it's $15 down there.

Another tip that I found helpful with my little ones is to pack outfits into ziplock bags. It will keep those items together and make getting ready so much easier. I put everything in the bag, the top & bottom and also panties and socks to even the hairbow for that outfit. It also makes it easy to grab one for the day to take with you.:goodvibes

I always over pack, but that's just me. I try not to but you never know what you maight need. I also do laundry there because it's so easy to get done with mulitple washing machines & dryers going. :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the help.

I am only bringing enough diapers for day one/plane becasue I placed an order with garden grocer.

Most outfits are dresses rather than shorts and tops because I was thinking they would be easiest for diaper changes. I have a stroller fan and light blanket for the stroller already to go.

Anything else :confused3

Subbing. I'd like to see the responses you will get. We are taking DD in October for her 1st trip. She will turn 1 yr old 2 days after we return. I'm also planning on ordering diapers from garden grocer so I'm not packing those either...to much hassle and they take up too much space.

Where do you get a stroller fan? I have two spray fans already packed, including the extra batteries (we leave in ONE week), but I've never seen stroller fans. I doubt DD (18 months) would let it attached, but you never know.:cutie:

For my three year old I packed clothes in zip lock bags. We were there 7 days and I had 12 outfits and did the wash once.

One thing to consider is if you go back and nap will you want to wash her down and change her clothes to make her feel better. We would all strip down for nap time as it was mid July and hot. Then it was just nice to put new fresh clothes on the kids.

I would not do this and will not always, but we did a few days. Because I knew we had clean clothes.

For my 10 & 8 yr old, I pack 4 park outfits, 2 pairs of pj's, 2 swimsuits with coverups or t-shirts to go over, and 2 nice outfits for a week (we also do laundry).

For my 2 yr old, I pack 6 park outfits, 3 pairs of pj's, 3 swimsuits & t-shirts, and 2 nice outfits for a week.

That way, I do have a few extra outfits for my little one, but I'm not packing his whole closet.

We went with our 14 mos old in April - I planned to do laundry but packed so I didn't have to (7 nights). I just didn't want to run all the way to the washer/dryer and have to spend vacation time doing laundry. Actually DH and I were the ones that needed laundry - our khakis that were to be worn on plane down and back were filthy from DD.

some stuff I used:
-stain stick - messy kids and parents!
-plastic stick on table covers and disposable bibs
-toys - our 6 y/o didn't really need any but DD14mos really did to occupy her while we got ready (I had a drawstring bag to throw them back in to straighten up when we left for the day)
-inflatable booster chair (to eat breakfast in the room) She would have had no hope of reaching the table without it as it was even high for our 6 year old
-swim diapers
-DD has a blankie for sleep and we took that in parks so she'd nap in stroller. If you do this be sure to take an extra one as it was dropped many time so it was dirty plus I was terrified we'd lose them both and then she'd never sleep.
-set of stacking cups - used as toy, cup to wash hair, and for playing in pool and bath
-Earplugs?- 14 mos old didn't need them but 6 year old always did
-she drank out of straws (we went right from bottle to straws to make it easier for stuff like eating out at Disney!) so we didn't need sippy cups but I took an insulated straw cup because she likes milk and it would get too hot otherwise.
-FYI - my DD wasn't walking and we didn't always have shoes on her - I was told she needed shoes on to take a character picture (without parent holding her)
-snacks in park - I usually don't take snacks but she was hungry at different times than us and that was helpful (we would stuff ourselves at lunch and not be hungry but babies don't do this so by dinnertime she'd be starving and we'd be fine still)
-If you are doing any sign language be sure to teach the sign for Mickey!

Have fun!
