Hi all! we are going on our 2nd Disney Cruise in 18 days. We have two Ocean Views with Verandah's booked for my family and for my in laws. There is a room separating us and I have called but they won't switch anyone's room which I understand. Is there anyway to do it once we are on the ship. I was told we could open the Verandah's privacy door so we can make our two rooms have one large Verandah. Has anyone done this? Do you think it would be totally rude to ask the people in the room between us??!! Thanks so much!

I've never heard of anyone doing this, but I can tell you that those barriers separating verandahs cannot be opened.

Confirming that because we checked on the Wonder and the verandahs don't open.

I have read here of people doing it, they leave a note on the middle room's fish and ask nicely. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Perhaps offering a small ($25) shipboard credit to the middle occupants would be an incentive.

Oh I didn't know that. Just going on info someone had told me. But thank you for that. I guess it doesn't matter now if we are in adjacent rooms! Not in there much anyway right!

On the current Magic and Wonder you CAN'T open up two verandahs to make one large one....it would be cool but can't be done on DCL. Don't know about what the Dream may have when it comes into service.

Did you check to see if the room in the middle of yours and your in-laws is a CONNECTING room to one of them, meaning the interior door opens from one cabin to the other....if so, then that might be a reason to try to get next to each other but if they are not CONNECTING cabins there is no real reason to be next to each other. One room away is no big deal at all.

I could have sworn I've read about the verandah's being opened up to make one large one....

Apparently it's the Dream. From the DCL site FAQ: (although the wording *is* a tad ambiguous).
Question
Can I get connecting staterooms?
Answer
There are several connecting staterooms on board the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder. However, they are subject to availability when booking and may go fast, so be sure to book early. The Disney Dream was designed specifically to accommodate larger families and groups. It has 500 connecting doors that allow for adjoining staterooms. Staterooms with verandahs that connect feature a partition that may be opened to create a larger shared balcony.
Sayhello

ETA: also, from the description of the Dream's Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Veranda:

For families too large to all stay together, the staterooms with connecting verandahs are great, as the partition between verandahs can be opened into one large balcony with access between rooms.

Have you checked with the people on your sailing in the cruise meets area? Maybe your neighbors happen to Disboard people.

My parents decided to go a deck above us to get away from us. LOL

If I were you I would call DCL reservations and ask to speak with a supervisor and be very polite about this. Many times they will be able to do something like this but it also might require you to move from the room your already booked in. You can also check when you check in at Port C. They might be able to do something. I would continue calling up till 10 days prior to the cruise as thats when they are finishing up with room assingments.

Happy Sailings!
