at the same time...if you are trying to get pregnant and you are at disney (and don't know if you are pregnant or not yet) would you ride the rollercoasters?

If you are just barely pregnant its fine. The baby is so small and so "down in there" that I don't think it should make any difference what so ever. Do that loop-de-loop!!!

PS - If you are worried, call your OB first!!

Who knows...you might just get pregnant at WDW. That is what happened to me. Came home with a little souvenier. Maybe the TOT is what did it for me...:rotfl:

But yeah, I would probably still go on them. If you don't know you are pregnant, then I don't see what could happen....especially if all was well before you went. I could see if you had problem pregnancies before where you might want to shy away, but if not, I would still go on them.

Well I bought a pregnancy test at a supermarket off I-4 just in case- and surprise surprise it was positive I chose to not ride.

Yes, BTDT. When I was about 12 weeks preggo with our first we went to WDW and I had no clue I was preggo. We had been trying for awhile so I wasn't expecting to be pg & I rode everything! It was a really slow season so we were able to ride ToT about three times before hopping onto RnR for about three rides. I had to stop after that because I started to not feel so great  but I didn't think it was due to a pg and it probably wasn't since Star Tours gets me ill. I found out I was pg about a week after getting back and asked my ob about riding the rides. She assured me that the baby is sooo tiny and in sooo much fluid that the chances of a rollercoaster causing any damage was very unlikely. My oldest is now a very healthy six year old.

You couldn't pay me to take a chance like that!

:goodvibes Sending lots of baby dust your way!!!pixiedust:

I didn't know that I was pregnant the first time around, had no idea, and we weren't trying. I went to six flags and rode the roller coasters and they made me very very very sick. If I knew I could be pregnant I wouldn't ride because I'd be afraid of feeling that way again. oook. It was horrible.
The baby was fine. :)

If I was just trying to get pregnant, then yes, I'd go on the coasters. The embryo is very well protected in those first couple weeks. A little Space Mountain will not dislodge a freshly implanted egg.

If I knew I was more than 4wks pregnant, then no. I would not feel comfortable.

I would say yes. I went to Cedar Pointe not knowing I was pregnant and rode just about everything there came home and a few days later found out I was pregnant. I was nervous about it my doctor told me it was fine the baby was well protected and so tiny.

An early miscarriage is basically predestined to happen. What you do cannot change this, no matter how hard you try. Nobody likes to think
about this happening, but it does. The question is are you the type of person who would feel guilty for going on the rides if this happened? Even though it wouldn't be the cause, nor your fault in any way, as women we have the tendency to carry around a lot of guilt. I hate to bring this up, but it's better to be completely prepared. The women who have had healthy pregnancies will tell you it's ok, and those who have had problems will tell you that it's not. I would follow your heart and your gut....if they say "ride", then by all means, go for it, but if something in you says "don't do it", then don't. The rides will be there next time you go! I hope this helps a little...I really don't want to offend anyone.:goodvibes

That is what my ob told me.

We joke all the time that my youngest...
My only GIRL after FOUR boys...
Is a Rollercoaster Baby :)

She was concieved at Universal...
Went on the Hulk right after...
Guess it shook things up :upsidedow

Anyways... If I knew I was Pregnant for sure I wouldn't
ride the rough rides...
But... If it was so early that I didn't know or was just trying
I wouldn't worry about it...
:tink: Lots of Baby Vibes to You

I've had three miscarriages- all at various points in the first/second trimester- I'd STILL go on the rides at WDW if I was TRYING to get pregnant. Unless you had a positive home pregnancy test in your hand- it's pointless to live your life like you ARE pregnant until you reach that point.

I also believe that if you went right when you got a positive HPT, you'd have no issues, but I'd have a harder time getting myself to ride if it was me. That's why we used birth control for the months following up to our trip to WDW in 07- I wanted to ride EVERYTHING GUILT FREE! And I knew if I was pregnant, even just barely, I couldn't do it.

Miscarriages in the first trimester are due either to chromosomal abnormalities or issues within the mother that aren't under control (like progesterone deficiencies)- not from going on Splash Mountain before you knew you were pregnant!

GL with your decision :)

I completely disagree (for more reasons than just the roller coaster topic at hand).

What may be pointless to you, may not be to someone else.

She asked for opinions- and I gave her mine. As someone who has had a long road TTC and many bumps along the way, I think my opinion is just as legitimate as anyone else's :)

Of course it is! But you worded it as if you are saying that is how everyone else should feel.

No ;) If I thought everyone else should feel the way I do- I wouldn't tell the OP good luck with her decision. I'd tell her- don't be ridiculous and just DO IT :rotfl: Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain are waiting! :)

I just think normal things you enjoy in life shouldn't be stopped while trying to conceive- if you are unlucky like some, you could be waiting years before going on another fast ride at WDW. Sure, binge drinking and drug use should be stopped while TTC (as well as some prescription drugs)- but that's more common sense then anything else. Drinking and drug use has been shown to harm a fetus- rollercoaster rides at conception have not.
