Two of my kids (20 boy, 16 girl) want to get up every morning and hit a gym at different resorts.......

Are there ANY gyms that they are not allowed to use or that will require a fee. I do know that they will need their room key showing them as DVC.

Do all the gyms provide towels and showers....I have only used the one at the Boardwalk after I had checked out and remember there being towels and maybe dispensers with soap?

I am trying to put together a typed list of what they can and cannot do as DVC members (this is their first trip as that).....

No pool hopping to SAB......is it both pools at AK? and what is the last pool....I think I read there are 3 we cannot hop to?

Thank you so much for any help.

Oh and will there be any problem with my daughter being only 16?

can't help with the gym question but the third pool is BLT and CR. Getting from one resort to another except between BCV and BWV will require bus transfers unless they are driving and might be more trouble than it is worth. Of course if you are on the monorail then you might be able to try Poly and GF if that is allowed. Don't think I have ever seen this question before so will be interested to see what others have to say.

Thank you....we are staying at BLT so the only two then are AK and SAB....and I hadnt thought (and neither did they) about how they were planning on going anywhere at 7 am.....will need to think about that.

Just adding: So long as your 20-year-old is "lead" on the reservation, you won't have any trouble booking for your 16-year-old DD...but to check in, the lead person on the reservation must be at least 18 (FL law).

Travel from BLT to another resort at 7 a.m. could be a tricky proposition, but it is do-able. Just about all the park buses are running by then...so your kids would have to walk over to MK and then hop the "correct" resort bus--or as someone else pointed out, monorail to another of the MK resorts...but so long as they're starting their transportation around 7 and understand it'll take some time, they'll be fine. Now, if they want to be at another resort's gym by 7 it could be trickier...

Hope they have a great time!

Im sorry but Im not understanding what you mean by my son being "lead" on the reservation..... We are booked at BLT as a family and my husband and I are the owners so Im not sure what I am to do? He IS 20 though....

"Lead" on the reservation means the first name listed on the reservation...if you & your husband are also going on the trip, no problems...but I thought from your post it might be that your DS and your DD were going without you. If that is the case, then the 20-year-old has to be listed first (be "lead") on the reservation, as that is the person who will be checking in...and the person checking in must be at least 18.

If you and/or your husband are going, tho, it's all moot--as presumably one of you will "lead" (be listed first) on the reservation.

Ownership of the points has nothing at all to do with it...it's a matter of whose reservation it is (not whose points they are) --

So, give MS your DS's name first (if you're not going to be in the same villa as your kids) and all will be well...

Happy vacation...

I may be wrong, but I'm not sure 16 year-olds are allowed in the gyms. I thought I saw a sign stating that one had to be 18 to enter. :confused3

At OKW, SSR & BWV children can enter accompanied by (either parent or adult, can't remember) I go in with my 14year old!

Oh my.....!!!! I thought for sure a 16 year old would be allowed.... She just wants to use the treadmills. This will put a kink in their plans if she is not allowed. I must put this on my list of things to ask at check in as I dont want them to bus it over to another resort and be turned away. At BLT I will bring her in and sign anything necessary as that is where we are staying.

HEY!! I just realized....in "Disney Speak" arent 10 years olds considered adults...HAHAHAHA... (jk)

As long as she is with your son they should be good since Disney allows 18 yos to check in and have a room - therefore they must be considered adults. Your son at 20 is definitely a Disney adult for everything except adult beverages.

I hope they have lots of time to kill because getting to and from other resorts is going to be time consuming.

I think they may monorail over to the Polynesian or GF.... but I was going to send them to Saratoga as I heard they have the best gym? They have been to Disney many times and know about the buses plus since we are going in the beginning of August the park hours are later than we are used to so they will catch up to us later!!

The Wilderness Lodge is only a boatride away also....

Thank you !

The monorail hotels will be easy to access and so will WL, getting to Saratoga not so much.

I think Saratoga got the reputation for best gym when you could access the Spa dressing rooms, that however has changed.

I think the first question is can you use the gym's at other resorts. Pool Hopping itself does not cover gym use. I know it's been discussed before and my recollection is there never was a definite answer as to whether it was officially allowed or not and that it was hit or miss. I'd check with a couple of the front desks at resorts they're planning to visit to see what they say and record the name and info if they say OK. I'd also check with MS though they are not going to be an authority. One might also consider an email directly to WDW guest services on this topic.

Well, you need a room key to gain access so that in itself may be an indication that you can't gym hop, but I don't know for sure.

That's what I was going to say - I never heard that DVC gave you the right to use other gym facilities. For regular guests, you have to pay a fee to use gyms at other resorts.

We just spent 10 days at AKV/BCV last month.

DS13 used the fitness center at Kidani several times, no problem.

On the day we moved to BCV, he went & used the fitness center there, no problem. The next day, someone there told him he needed to be 16yo, so he left. We didn't know & were fine with that.

I believe a WDW guest can use any of the fitness centers on property. If you want access during other than regular opening hours then you'll need a KTTW for that resort. There is information about age restrictions as well. It looks like the fitness centers are all pretty similar, it's the spas that are different and there is an additional charge for using spa facilities.

It would be easier if both just went over to CR together and used the fitness center facilities there as your DD would have an adult accompanying her. Although that technically your DS wouldn't be her guardian, I think they'd let them both workout.

Here's what the WDW website says.

Fitness centers located at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels feature state-of-the-art strength-training and cardiovascular equipment, saunas and steam rooms for use by Resort hotel Guests. Personal trainers and spa treatments may be available for additional fees. Maybe someone there now should try a KTTW card from a different resort to see if it works.
