Trying to get a straight answer on the resale Market

Dont want to start a whole thing on buying resale, I know they made some changes in the lst few years about buying from one.

I am currently a DVC owner bought both direct and resale, never had any problems with either membership.. My sister is looking to buy into DVC and asked me about buying resale, Im not sure of the changes of what she would be able to use if does or doesnt by directly from DVC.

Can I get a few responses about the new rules and what her limitations will be if she buys on the resale market.... Thanks

The only current limitations that will affect her ability to use points purchased via resale are regarding the Disney Collection, Concierge Collection and the Adventurer Collection. She will still be able to use the points at any of the DVC resorts (based on availability) and for the World Passport Collection.

DVC points from current resale purchases cannot be used for the Disney Cruise Line or at any of the non-DVC Disney Resorts. In addition, unless she is already an owner with a direct purchase or a grandfathered resale contract, she would not be allowed to pay cash for a DVC Member's Cruise.

If using her points for non-DVC options is an important component to her, she should purchase directly through DVC. If her primary interest is to enjoy staying at DVC Resorts, resale should meet her needs nicely.

WebmasterDoc said it exactly. If you want to buy into DVC to stay at DVC resorts, then resale is definitely the way to go. Just be sure you know who the reputable brokers are! Disclaimer, I bought resale last summer, very happy with my choice.

I used The Timeshare Store and Magic Vacation Title. Everyone was great during the process. They helped me expedite, always responded or called back, and were happy to help with anything I needed.

I highly recommend using them if you can find a contract you like on their website (sponsor above).

I agree with the timeshare store. But be sure to contact them with your 'wish list'. Many available contracts never make it to the web site. They get sold before they get that far. Good luck.

Yes, you're eligible for all discounts and will get the point charts and anything else Disney mails to members.
