I know that the private cabanas are hard to come by and this is only our 2nd cruise, we will not be in concierge. I really want a cabana at Castaway Cay! We will have a party of 10 which includes my MIL, she has Stage 4 colorectal cancer and we're praying she'll be in remission by the time we set sail! I'm really hoping to get the cabana for her.

I'd LOVE to hear anyone's stories about getting a cabana, especially if you weren't concierge, gold, or platinum :)

I was able to get one in January on the Magic, and I'm only Silver. From reading the boards, it seems like this is a pretty rare occurrence. I think the fact that we were on the smaller ship and sailed in off-peak season definitely worked in our favor. Hope you can snag one!

Edited to add: when I logged on right at midnight, there were actually still 4 available, all on family beach (3 regular cabanas and the grand cabana).

I was only silver when we got one on a February cruise. We were active here and on FB in cruise groups and I just asked politely that if anyone was going to cancel that they let me know. I checked every few days to see if a cabana became available. Someone in the group did cancel and we timed it just right (late at night) and I was able to get it.

Worst case if you do not have one by sailing day don't give up! Go directly to Guest services when you board and get on the cabana wait list. People are allowed to cancel up until the day before on board and won't get charged for the Cabana as long as DCL can fill the spot so they do keep a wait list. You can't get on it though until you are on board.

When we got our first cabana we were silver CC member's.
I was dead set on getting one for our family of 8.
Of course there were none available at 75 days out.
I stalked the port adventures page everyday all day, about 3 or 4 weeks before the cruise one popped up. I was so happy, I grabbed it as fast as possible.
It was our best stay ever on CC.
Now we are platinum and I still worry I won't get one.
When we sailed the Fantasy in 2014, we were gold and I couldn't get one. I went to Port Adventures when we boarded and put my name on the wait list, but sadly I was never called about a cancellation.
Another trip on The Wonder we booked last minute and none were available, we were just 2 adults sailing, the day before CC, we came back from Nassau to find the wrist bands for us for one on Serenity Bay.
So you just never know, you may get lucky. :)

Good Luck.

Thanks soooo Much, I will make sure to join my cruise group! We don't sail until June 3rd, 2017 ;)

We were silver once and were able to get one right at midnight on our online check in day. A member of our cruise's FB group posted that there were still some available that day so I went straight there (it's under port adventures) and snagged it. The other time we got one we upgraded to concierge at the port and told the concierge that we would like one if it became available and I guess there was a cancellation because they were able to get us one at the last minute.

I got mine 53 days out at silver. I was checking the website before work, at lunch, after work, and before bed.

We went on our first cruise on the Magic in February. We went right to guest services when we got on board and were put on a wait list. We ended up getting one. I am glad we experienced it but it's not worth $600.

We've had luck checking the port adventures page regularly and on our 2nd cruise checking with Guest Services as soon as we boarded.

It can be done. I checked 3 times a day, every day a few cruises back and ended up getting one that someone must have released.

You never know. When people book air fare, transfers, disney resort tickets, excursions..............and then they see how much that all adds up to, sometimes the cabana is the first thing to go.

yep, Last year checked everyday a few times a day and 2 family beach cabanas were released (next to each other) with 4 days to cruise. So look everyday, but that 4th day before cruise many realize they have but mere hours to cancel without penalty.

Confession: I am presently a circling Cabana vulture.

I check CC port adventures two or three times a day hoping to get lucky and snap up a canceled cabana for my June 11th cruise on the Fantasy. Upon arrival, I'll be asking again at the port adventures desk and ask to be put on a waiting list.

Wish me luck!

WanderLit - I hope you are able to book that cabana. They looked amazing as we gazed at them from afar. Would love one for our next cruise!

It really becomes an obsession, doesn't it?
The times I actually snagged one after stalking the sight for weeks and weeks, I didn't know what to do with myself all day, LOL Insanity for sure.
GOOD LUCK!!! I hope you can score one. :)

When are you sailing and on which ship? I thought it would be hard to get a cabana, but we lucked out and got one for our July cruise. This will be the first time we have had one so we are excited about it. Hope you get one also.

We really enjoy the quiet comfort of the cabana and wouldnt travel to CC any other way if we had our choice. Worth the price for us as we stay off the boat all day!!
