Have any of you come across some inexpensive hiking boots lately? We're looking for ankle-height hiking boots (mens and womens) that are sturdy and well made... but that aren't going to break the bank....

I don't know where to look- it seems like places like Dicks and Sports Authority are SOOOOO $$$!!

I have two different comments:

1- check out places like sierratradingpost.com, campmor.com, rei.com (outlet section).

2-buying a good pair of hiking boots is essential. Not a place to skimp on. Plus, I have a pair of leather Technica hiking boots I bought in college. In college they were worn everyday and now they are worn a 3-5 times a week during the winter. They are 16 years old and still don't need to be replaced:cool1:.

I buy mine at L.L Bean and some are 6-7 years old and still look new. They go in water, mud etc and never any issues with foot pain or lack of warmth. I don't know what your budget is but they are pretty darn affordable for the quality. Pay for quality now so you aren't buying new ones every year.
