Trying to figure out how many pts needed- help

I was looking at the points calendar chart and I am very confused. We are looking at going over [dates] in 2010 (check in **/** and check out **/**). When I look at the chart there are different seasons. My days fall into 2 different seasons, Choice season and Magic season. How do I determine a weekly amt of points if there are two different seasons? I am trying to find the most economical place to stay- any suggestions? We will have 2 adults and our kids (20,15,11 and 3). Thanks for any help you can give. My dh really doesnt want to stay in 2 rooms at a value and Im trying to find the most inexpensive DVC route. Also, what is the going rate per point for the most part?

It doesn't matter what the season is at the beginning of the trip. Seasons can change day by day. You might have one day for Magic Season, two days for Adventure Season, four days for Choice Season. So the days are figured individually depending upon the season that day falls in. Then you just add the days up.

I'd bet two rooms at a value would be cheaper than a DVC two bedroom villa for that holiday period.

Im sure it will be cheaper, but I was just trying to get some sort of idea of price to compare. I will go back and add up each day that falls under each season and see how many I get. Any idea of how much per point each is? Thanks

The rental price is fully negotiable between you and a DVC owner. The average range is about $9 to $12 per point.

I would suggest that since it will be hard to get a holiday reservation you will probably need to rent quite a bot out so it will probably be for higher points.

Yes, that sounds right, but just a word of advice....If you cut out one of those weekend nights (maybe the last one), it would make a HUGE difference. Even switching that last weekend night to a weekend night at the beginning of your trip will make it cost less too. If you start your trip on a Friday night and leave on Saturday a week later, you will save points, and thus money.

Exactly, this is why I go every June right after school lets out. I take the week-end at the beginning because around the 10th/11th of the month the point structures changes and is more expensive. You have to work your points to your advantage and if your travel is flexible, it's easy!

So if we checked in on the 19th then we would lose that 59 pt day and the points would be 45? That would save us 14 points. Is that what you mean?
