Heading to WDW next week with my daughter and her friend. We have old park hoppers which we will use for two days but then we have to decide what tickets to buy. We have plenty of old pluses for the water parks.

We will probably go into the parks one or two additional days at the most. I'm not sure I want to invest $300-$400 each to buy a 7 to 10 day no expiry ticket (my daughter's friend will buy her own).

Since we own DVC we will definitely be going back in future years - however, it may not be for 2-3 years. On one hand I know it's $67 a day to get into the parks. But that $600+ is hard for me to swallow not knowing for sure when we'll be back and this was supposed to be a budget trip

Any thoughts on what you have done when you only needed 1 or 2 days would be appreciated! Spend now or later :confused3

What would you have done if they still had the old ticketing system?

Would you have bought just 1 or 2 single day tickets or would you have gotten a 7 day ticket?

Option 1: A 7 day non expiring park hopper will run about $320.

Option 2: A 2 day base ticket will run about $133.
Lets say your next trip you do a 5 day base (no hopping) which today cost about $210 but in 2-3 years I would figure on at least $220
Your already over $350 dollars not including park hopping for $40.

If you park hop you can save about $70 per ticket if you buy now as opposed to buying what you need now and then again in a couple of years.

If I knew I was going back in a couple of years and was in your situation I would buy for the future trip now. Don't look at it as laying out $600 since you were going to buy an additional day or two anyway. You will be laying out about $380 more than you were planning. If this would cause a problem with paying other obligations then don't do it but if you can afford the extra $380 I would buy now for the next trip.

I hope this is clear.

One possible compromise is to buy a ticket w/ 1 more days than you need and the no expiration option. You will have one day left, and on your next trip you could upgrade the ticket to add on however many more days you would need. You wouldn't save as much money than if you would buy them all now (how much I don't know, I didn't calculate it), but I say every dollar helps, esp if you don't have all the extra money to lay out right now.

I didn't know you could do that.... if I purchased a 3 day I could upgrade later? Also, what if it was purchased through a discount broker?
