Trying to decide on Magic Med Cruise 6/18/22 or 6/27/22...
6/18 has Dubrovnik but No Mykonos...
6/27 also has Crete...
looking for some feedback from other cruisers or travelers who have been...
Dubrovnik worth the visit? heard good stuff...TIA

I cannot wait to go back to Mykonos.

I've never had any desire to go to Croatia - or any of Eastern Europe really.

I've heard Croatia is amazing. I actually booked today and went with the 18th.

Thank you...I just figured with Santorini..Mykonos can be skipped..but is Crete over Dubrovnik? leaning Croatia as well...as the other places prob easier to make a repeat visit...Croatia will be a bit more of an effort...

My wife has the same reservations...

I went to Kotor a few years ago only because it was included as one stop where I wanted everything else. I paid 3 euro for the "privilege" of climbing a mountain and then hightailed it back to the ship. That was enough for me.

We did a 17 night trip starting in Venice for two nights, then driving through Croatia visiting Plitvice, Dubrovnik, Mostar (Bosnia- Herzegovina) Montenegro and back up through Slovenia. It was amazing. If you can do a driving trip instead of a cruise with a port stop, you will enjoy it more. Less crowds, more to see. Driving there is super simple. And Slovenia is just so amazing!

The owner of the apartment where we stayed in Dubrovnik said she didn’t feel anyone ever really got a good glimpse of Dubrovnik by cruise because of the numbers of people that come in to a very small area. We enjoyed Dubrovnik a lot though.

I haven’t been to Greece but I believe from what friends told me that it is more cruise friendly.

Tough decision either way.

very helpful...thank you for the input...

We have been to all the Adriatic/Greek ports that Disney has on menu. Our rankings below are purely for a daytime cruise stop - it may very well be different if you decide to stay on for a few days on a land tour.

1. Dubrovnik
2. Santorini
3. Kotor/Sveti Stefan
4. Split/Hvar/Mostar
...
(Daylight)
...
Mykonos

More color:

1. Even if you aren't a GoT fan, a Dubrovnik walking tour is as close as it gets to experiencing a medieval city today in all its summer glory. It's a perfect cruise stop.

2. Santorini needs little intro - but be careful to avoid the crowds by taking a loop from Oia to Fira - and not the other way around.

3. The sail-in and -out of the Kotor Bay is amazing. To be honest, most cruisers have no clue how to experience this stop. (They do a quick hike up and down or interact with vendors at the port.) Instead, plan your trip around a driving tour of Sveti Stefan - about 30 minutes away - and then a boat tour of the Lady of the Rocks church in the middle of the bay. You can still do a hike (or a small part of it) since everything is in close vicinity.

4. While Split has plenty to charm you on its own, it's location on the Adriatic coast is prime. You can do half-day trips to Hvar or Mostar - both UNESCO world heritage sites - or hire a boat for a day on the shimmering Adriatic.

5. Once you have been to Santorini, Mykonos will have little to offer you. It's known for the late-night party atmosphere, but you can't sample much of it during a cruise stop. People also talk about its beaches. Well, beaches pretty anywhere in the Mediterranean/Adriatic would be a letdown for those used to the Caribbean white sand - with some exceptions such as the Myrtos Beach in Kefalonia.

Good luck!

THIS is FANTASTIC feedback...yeah...that was what I was thinking..I am no longer the young pup looking to party in Mykonos...lol

THANK YOU

We did a 14 night Eastern Med cruise back in 2019 that included both Mykonos and Dubrovnik. While we loved Mykonos, I would pick Dubrovnik without a shadow of a doubt - especially as you already going to Santorini. The natural beauty, the architecture and the tragic recent history of Dubrovnik drew us in. I'm not a GoT fan, but my husband got a kick out of seeing some of the sites where the show was filmed. I would love to go back to Croatia and spend some more time exploring the rest of the country. I hear Split is lovely.

Mykonos is a gorgeous island and we enjoyed our day there, just walking around the old town and having lunch. But it wouldn't draw me back for a longer stay as Dubrovnik did.

I've never been to Crete, so I can't help there. I did notice that the 6/18 cruise is also going to Kefalonia. This island was a pleasant surprise for us. It was just lovely, but in a completely different way than Santorini and Mykonos. The call it the "green" island as it's heavily forested with some amazing waterfront views. Someone on our tour said it reminded them of Lake Tahoe. We had a lovely day there, exploring the island, visiting a winery and an old church, and taking a boat ride through a gorgeous cave among other things.

Whatever you decide, enjoy! You really can't go wrong, and you will probably end up wanting to go back, so you can explore whatever you miss on this trip :goodvibes .

Hey sorry to hijack the thread but how do I find this cruise? I can only see up to May 22 on the site? Super interested in finding that cruise - thanks guys!

your detailed response and the others above have me at SOLD...booking 6/18 tomorrow at 8AM EST...the Medieval setting has my wife really interested...its too bad Disney only goes there once a year it seems...

Dubrovnik is an amazing city, and so is the surrounding area. The biggest decision is whether to stick to the old city area and maybe have time to take the lift up the mountain - which would pretty much fill the day at a leisurely pace or visit the nearby cities/islands.

Agreed - but for Disney, it is really out of the way, and as a port, Dubrovnik is badly overused... to the point where the port authority was starting to stagger ships arrivals and departures throughout the day. What people don't realize is that the actual population in Dubrovnik is less than 50,000... and is one of those cities like Venice starting to suffer from overtourism

I visited Dubrovnik with a different cruise line many years ago and LOVED it. It was my favorite port of the trip, and I've been eager to return to Croatia ever since. Two of my friends who were on that cruise with me took a land trip of just Croatia the next year because they loved Dubrovnik so much.

I booked the June 18, 2022 9-night Med with Greek Isles (and Dubrovnik!) this morning & started a thread: https://www.disboards.com/threads/june-18-2022-disney-magic-9-night-med-with-greek-isles.3830580/
