Hi everyone, I need some opinions please. My family and I are arriving on 4/23,probably arriving at POP by 1pm. I can't decide what to do. Part of me thinks we should just relax by the pool and maybe shop at DTD and call it an early night. But now I'm thinking maybe I'll take my DD 10 andDS 7 to AK but is it worth it for just those few hours? We weren't planning on doing AK this time because 1) the rest of my party doesn't want to go there,2)the rest of my party only has 5 day passes so they don't want to use a ticket that first day and 3) I don't really like AK but I think my kids will enjoy it. So what would you do?

I'm not a huge Animal Kingdom fan as I just don't like animals, but I usually go there for a half day to do the few things I actually like there. If you go to the Animal Kingdom for a few hours that day, it would still be a pretty early night since the AK closes so early.

Maybe you could ask the kids if they'd rather hang out by the pool or go to the Animal Kingdom.

We opted out of AK last trip, went for the half day at the resort pool. We had been to AK twice before, just not our favorite park. But I think next trip we will do it for 1/2 day and skip DTD which didn't thrill us this trip.

If your not going to get into your room until after 1, then by the time you get everything together and get over to the AK it's going to be well after 2, maybe even close to 3. To get there that late, considering how early they close doesn't seem worth it. I would skip it, go with teh pool or DTD

Go and just know that you will only get a few things done. I would suggest trying to see Festival of the Lion King and the Safari and maybe Kali if your feeling adventurous. The Safari may be out of FP's by the time you arrive so you will have to check on that. AK closes much earlier than the other parks so you will still have time to do the other things you were planning anyway.

Wouldn't your kids like the midway games in Dinoland? That woould be fun!

We love AK, but I don't think it would be worth it for that little amount of time. FOTLK is fantastic and we love to see the animals. Dinosaur is one of our favorite rides. We always get there early and leave by noon or 1:00 because it seems to get very crowded in the afternoon. The safari ride is best first thing in the morning (and some say late afternoon) I wouldn't waste a day from the passes for just an hour or two. Just my opinion though!:teeth:

First let me say that I love AK. But, I don't feel that anyone does the park justice in 4 or 5 hours. AK to me is a day or two kind of park when we go. I just love the whole atmosphere.

However, for your situation, I think you might enjoy something like DTD. Or plan some time at one of the mini golf courses at Disney. Maybe even plan a trip over to FW for a trip to the animal petting area, the evening movie, and dinner. There is lots of fun to be had at Pop too. It's a hoot just to walk around and see all the decorations and take a stroll down Memory Lane.

There are so many other things to do to fill your time on the first day than to go to a park and waste a park admission fee. Maggie
