Ok. So its almost 60 days until our trip
Trying to decide where to eat at DLP! We are coming from NY so dont want to eat anything we can get here!! (trip is 5 nights in Paris and then 3 nights at DLP at disneyland hotel

Trying to decide between either Restaurant des stars (good value?, see Remy) or Agrabah Cafe (food looks interesting)

For table service am debating between Blue Lagoon (looks like a nice atmosphere---we have not done the Blue Bayou at DL or SAn Angel Inn at WDW that would have similar atmospheres) or Walt's. Everyone says Walt's is sooo great but it doesnt grab me. What makes it special? If you had to choose between these two, which one?

We are thinking one meal at Cafe Mickey and we will do my daughter's birthday cake there.

Also, how easy is it to just order tap water?

Hi
Sounds like you have a great trip planned!
I cant help as regards Agrabah or Blue Lagoon but R des S is nice, the dessert selection in particular and Walts is the nicest food we've had at DLP. Each room is themed for the 5 different lands.
If you like buffets then Inventions is a character buffet. It could be an alternative to Cafe Mickey and its in the DLH. We've eaten at Cafe Mickey a few times and while theres lots of bad reviews, we only had one bad experience but the kids still enjoyed that night.

You ask for a carafe of water. This is free tap water and is fine to drink :thumbsup2

Certainly not an expert on dining but we did try the Blue Lagoon and enjoyed it.
Being able to watch and wave at people on the boats going by was cool.

It was expensive as a one off.

Hard to find value for money also.

I'd definitely choose Agrabah Cafe over Restaurant des stars for theming/atmosphere :thumbsup2

I really love the Blue Lagoon and the food is a little different, menu includes swordfish, gambas, lamb. menu here http://www.dlrpmagic.com/planning/dining/restaurant-menus/blue-lagoon-restaurant/

Can't help with Walt's never been.

RDS isn't going to give you anything special or different in the way of food, having said that it is one of our favourites, buffet tends to include a pasta dish, ratatouille obviously ! and a couple of meat dishes, in my opinion it is one of the best buffets and a reasonable price, better than Plaza Gardens for instance.

We've done Agrabah once and the theming is lovely, but I wasn't too impressed with the food.

Walts vs Blue Lagoon

Setting and atmosphere in BL is lovely - great being inside the ride :thumbsup2

I think the menu will be a deciding factor, as it's very fish orientated so not to everyone's liking. We enjoyed our meal there but we prefer Walts.

I love the fact that Walts in on Main St. On entering from the street there is a lot of Walt Disney memorabilia, photos etc and the actual restaurant upstairs is very tastefully decorated. The menu is excellent and we've never had a bad meal or poor service here.

Another great aspect is that if you happen to be eating near parade time, you may be lucky to get a table overlooking Main St, which is lovely :cloud9:

I love Agrabah Cafe, the food is really lovely and I went with my mother and sister who are both picky with food but really enjoyed it!

Also Blue Lagoon is wonderful, I would definitely recommend it. Again my mum dislikes sea food so really didn't want to go, but now it's her favourite restaurant! :)

Also great choice with Mickey's Cafe, I had my birthday and cake in there and it was a brilliant experience. Will really love it!

Thanks guys! Seems they are all good options!!

Inventions seems too expensive so probably wont do that one...

Hijacking the post-I like several mains at Walts and desert options but not keen on the 2 course set course menu-we are small eaters and wouldn't get through 3 courses. We'd prefer to have a main each and share a desert so a la carte is the way to go for us and we'd not spend much more than we would doing a set course deal anyway-I presume we can do this?

Yes we have eaten off a la carte and have had a mix of some of us having a starter and main and others having a main and dessert with one of us just having a main.....the food and service here is yummy you wont be disappointed!

Walts is actually modelled on Club 33 in DL California (The private club that most of us dont get chance to experience)

Definitely hearing that WAlt's is modeled after club 33 made me really interested!

Sooo. Made dinner reservations for Cafe Mickey plus a cake, lunch one day at restaurant des stars, and then dinner at Walts thelast day. I had wanted lunch at Walts but was told there is no lunch (?)

Other than that we will try to eat a big breakfast and will try to share counter service meals for our other meals...
Thanks for all the input!

We also have made ressies for a dinner at Walts (as told no lunches the days I queried-14-16 May) and for a lunch at Agrabah as I love the theming and believe we will like the food. I also was tempted by BL never having tried Blue Bayou at DL but just didn't really like much on the current menu, and R de S for Remy! May try a walk-up for the latter on our arrival day if we are hungry (jetlag=often often no appetite). Child now all grown up I no longer need to worry about character meals though I still love Crystal Palace for Winnie the Pooh and friends whenever we are in the US! Nearly but not quite single digits now-yaay
