I used the Disney website to try and price a spur of the moment trip for Thursday, October 4th, thru Monday, October 8th, and NOT ONE Disney hotel has availability?!?! Could that be right? What is going on down there that weekend? If it's THAT full I guess I probably don't want to go!! Any advice would be appreciated! This would be two adults and two kids, ages six and eleven. Thanks!

It's Columbus Day weekend...lots of schools are off for a long weekend.

It seems that Columbus Day is going to be extremely busy this year, along with the Food & Wine Festival. I would keep trying though, did you call too? Sometimes when you call, they have a bit more available than the website.

Good luck!:wizard:

OH dear. Does that mean November 7-11 will be busy, too, with Veteran's Day the 12th?

Most likely. Plus I believe that is the end of Jersey Week. And the Super Soap event at the Studios is that weekend, as is the art festival at Downtown Disney...and it's the last weekend of the Food and Wine Festival. So yes, it'll be busy.

Many school systems have started coordinating a fall break with Columbus Day weekend, so that's gotten very busy.

Hmmm, okay, but as for those November dates and events, we are ONLY interested in Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom...do you think we can then avoid the 'events' going on at Epcot, Downtown Disney, and the Studios?? Or am I just hopeful but wrong?

You can avoid the events but most likely on a holiday weekend there will still be plenty of people in the parks. It probably won't be as bad as high summer, though, and the weather will be better.

Just curious...Are you looking for room only? or a package? What Resort?

Well, I was looking under package only, for Pop, but then I checked EVERY resort and none had openings. However, it's now all a moot point as I checked airfare and there's just no way we can swing this. We'll have to wait until August now. :o( We were trying to get in and see the Haunted Mansion!!

The lure of the Haunted Mansion. I am going in Nov/Dec and will be arriving a day before the rest of my family. I am hitting the MK by myself just to check out the "new" Haunted Mansion. I can't wait!:cool1:

We're going 9/29-10/7 & we are in hopes we won't see the crowds increase until Saturday the 6th as the schools are in session Friday. Even if they come that Friday night we'll be happy. For Saturday I'm planning to tour the resorts and MK that night which will be packed but we'll just be going for dinner and to say good bye to the MK until next time :(. All our touring will be done by then.

I hope an opening becomes available for you and your family.

If you are only using the web site to try to book, you need to call - Disney only allocates a certain number of rooms to their web site, so there actually could be availability but the Internet rooms are already sold out. Of course it IS possible they are booked (holiday weekend and all) but I definitely wouldn't throw in the towel until I called and spoke with a person. And if you do find it's full, continue to call every morning at 7:00am Eastern time to see if anything opened up overnight (cancellations, etc.).

Good luck!
