whoops, nevermind. I just saw that you can only book until 12/31/12 at this time.

I called last week to book a room only package and I mentioned to the CM on the reservation line my intentions to call and change to a package once they open up for 2013 and he politely suggested I wait...he wouldn't give me an exact date but insisted it would be VERY soon.
He explained if I made a room only reservation, they would have to cancel it when the package could be booked and I'd have to pay a new deposit while waiting for the first deposit to credit to my account.
Soooo...I'm checking daily. If I'm not mistaken, doesn't the online reservation system usually go down for "maintenance" while this happens? I vaguely remember that from last year. I'm waiting to book for January. Happy waiting!![]()

Absolutely not. The reservation will NOT be canceled and you keep your original reservation number.
I do this every year for seven years in a row now Just call again.![]()
We booked a room only a couple of years in a row as there was a particular room that we wanted. When the new rates came out I had to call and they had to cancel the room only (didn't not lose my room) and book a package. Thus resulting in a new reservation number and the room only reservation number was no longer valid. My room only deposit was refunded and I had to give another $200.00 deposit for the package.
But you can book a room only 499 days out.
Well I never had problems like that and the reservation number did not change.
I was always told by CRO that once you change/cancel from a room only to a package, you get a new reservation number as they are different systems.
. You are correct that one has to be cancelled/refunded and the other one booked, requiring a new deposit, as they are different reservation systems. They also have different numbers as well, so keeping a confirmation number from a room only and having a package (or vice versa) wouldn't be possible
.Huh, is that something new that they are doing? I was always told by CRO that once you change/cancel from a room only to a package, you get a new reservation number as they are different systems.

Hope all is good. This is what I thought but who am I to argue.
The one time we had room only booked and changed over to a package, this was our experience, as well. Granted, it's been a couple of years.
LOL...i'm waiting to book our trip for April 2013. Even though we go every year, it doesn't get any less exciting to book, plan and go!!!

We've done this before, too, but frankly I never noticed a change in reservation number. Would seem odd, given we make dining reservations 180 days out too and have never lost them. Everything seemed to carry over.![]()
That's one question I have. We have a room booked for February, if Disney doesn't come out with their 2013 numbers until August, can I make dining reservations with a room only and then transfer them over to the package reservation?
