Trying to be gracious, but really kind of irked! UPDATE post 99

Well, my favorite Dis pastime lately has been inventing endings to threads where there are none:laughing:, so if she doesn't come back I'll make something up :).

It usually involves car chases and women being thrown into the geranium beds :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I almost hope the OP doesn't update us so we can have your version of the story...

I would not call. Once I donate something it is no longer mine.

I also think the OP went overboard on how much she sent in. The class was decorating cupcakes and all that sugar, I wouldn't want to have them in my classroom after they ate it.

No, this was definitely about the money donation issue,
Oh, no. I wasn't disagreeing with you; I was just relating what I knew about donations given for a specific purpose, then not being used for that purpose! I wasn't doubting you - and now that you've supported your claim by invoking George Clooney, well... ;)

I don't think the OP would have had an issue if the teacher had used some of the "good stuff" at each table. Nope, she used the cheap stuff.

I wish I had an update, but as of 9pm NJ time, the art teacher has not called me back!

It's possible we will all have to wonder forever - I'm certainly not leaving a follow up message!

I re-read the OP, and she said not all of the stuff was handed out, only some stuff, and she later added that the marzapan was used. I didn't see where she said that only the crappy stuff was put out. What teacher is going to put out 15 pounds of candy (not to mention the candy the other children brought in)? :confused3 This is elementary school - teachers like to keep it simple. Sure, there was a HUGE variety of candy, but I can't imagine a teacher wanting to put all of that out.

Why would anyone want 15 pounds of candy? That's the last thing I'd want to drag home in the summer.

Dang, it's been a week. Still no update?

(and lol - I wouldn't leave a follow-up message either. Maybe next time, if you can, volunteer to be there and help, then you'll know where your donation ends up for sure :) )

when my boy's started kindergarten. I donated a full pencil box for each child. from markers, to scissors to glue sticks.
I had no idea they were not given out. bought special pencils with toppers for each Holiday. by Valentines when for the 4th time my boy's repeated AGAIN, these items were not passed out to the class i began to wonder. why pass only to them when I bought for everyone?

until I was in the classroom and went to the supplies under the sink and every bit, was stacked there. including the specialty items. I am talking well well over 150 plus worth.
I was shocked what was she hoarding it for?
to this day I regret not saying something. she lost her job and I now work at the school. You can bet I looked in that cabinet. everything was gone she took it all with her. to this day it bugs the heck out of me.
It was provided for those specific kids not for her own use.

(b) once you donate blood, it's really hard to get it back.

:confused3 I agree.

Maybe she is having a party??? ;)

I WOULD make a follow up call, if for no other reason then satisfying my curiousity! :rotfl:

I think the problem is that the teacher did not put enough of it out for the kids. Maybe she did use it for the other classes but then she should let you know. She could have given the kids choices of what they wanted.

Of course the polite thing would have been for the teacher to send a note home asking if you would like the extras back or if you wanted them donated to other projects.

I just read this whole thing and there is no ending :headache: Why do I do this to myself LOL

You need to read the last page of a long thread first. ;)

I love the seemingly "harmless" threads that get really long...I read the last page, amazed to discover that there actually IS controversy, and then have to go back and find out how it all played out. It's a science. :rotfl:

Well, she never called me back, so commence making up your own endings!

My ending is, she took all the high-end decorator items, drove to Hoboken and begged the Cake Boss for a summer internship, with the hope of a permanent job offer in September, so she wouldn't have to continue being an art teacher in the wilds of the NJ suburbs, where rude moms actually want some accountability for the donations the teachers are constantly asking for!

Have a good weekend, all. Thanks for following the thread!
