Trying to avoid wearing a fanny pack...advice?

Since WDW now uses magic bands for everything, I feel like I can "get away with" no longer wearing a fanny pack when we tour the parks. We stay at BWV in a 1-bedroom villa on our DVC points, so during our 10-night stay, mousekeeping will only enter our room twice...once for a trash & towel change and once for a full cleaning. I'm thinking of just bringing my cash in my pocket to the parks, and leaving my wallet (with credit card and ATM card) in the safe inside the room. If you were me, would you trust this? DH and I will each have a small backpack...his with his drivers license and the water bottles for the four of us, and mine with the epi-pens for my son and also my inhaler and drivers license. Should I just out my credit card and ATM card in a small ziplock in the backpack and leave the rest of the things in my wallet in the safe?

I should also mention that I don't go on any thrill rides...I am not allowed to because of neck and back issues. So I go on rides like it's a small world, Peter Pan, TSMM, pirates, Soarin, etc. So no worried about bringing a backpack on a thrill ride or anything. Thoughts or advice?

I do this all the time using the safe to hold any valuables and I feel safe doing so. I know there have been reports of theft at the resorts over the years but the incidents are so few and far between as to be statistically insignificant. The safe in the room is big enough to hold all our most valuable stuff. I have left cameras and other sorts of things in the room with no problems. I carry a bit of cash with me and store everything else in the safe. You should be just fine.

Thank you, this makes me feel better! I'm still considering the ziplock thing for my credit card and ATM card though...the Brooklyn in me is saying not to risk it, haha! Good thing though, I could avoid carrying a fanny pack. It's just so much more comfortable without it.

I am a chief parole officer. I dont trust anyone anywhere anyhow!! Ha!...But, I have never had a problem at Disney. I dont leave stuff laying around mind you, and the safe is always used to hold the most valuable stuff especially $$$. It is no problem. You can carry all you need in the backpack and leave a ton of other stuff in the safe feeling comfortable.

My boys each have a small drawstring backpack to carry anything that they might need (poncho, trading pins, ears, whatever). I toss my small camera into one and my very small wallet into the other (think I'd, very little cash, my dvc card and an extra credit card just in case). That's it. We don't take anything else. As for my purse, we leave it all at home. My boys like being responsible for their own stuff. I do remind them when we leave a restaurant or a ride or whatever. It's almost never necessary though.

I don't see a reason. You'll be carrying a backpack. You don't need cash, and you don't need a credit card. Even if you do, put them on the backpack and secure them as you would secure a purse.

yes, I would Use the safe. I stay off site at my time share and cleaning services come twice or 3 times in a week. I lock up all my electronics and wallets that I don't bring with me to the park and I never had a problem. I also have a thin crossbody wallet, that keeps everything close to me at all times. If someone is staying with the backpack at all times, secure your items in a deep pocket and it should be fine :thumbsup2

We've used the in room safe and never had a problem, but if you're concerned and don't want to carry your credit cards there are safe deposit boxes (the type at the bank) that you can use behind the counter in the lobby.

With backpacks, you wouldn't need a waistpack (the term with "f" in it is incredibly NOT what we're intending to say, to readers from other countries, so I don't use that word) at all.

But if the MB has a problem you still want to bring ID and a credit card. Might want to bring some cash if you suddenly want a balloon or something else where they don't take cards/bands. Might bring your insurance card in case someone in the family injures themselves and you don't want a hassle at the urgent car or ER. Since you're DVC, bring your DVC card for any discounts you might want to use. etc.

Basically, I bring every wallet-related thing I used to bring. And I have the MB. :rolleyes2 I have to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, etc etc...MBs have done nothing for my need for a bag in the parks.

If it's wallet stuff you are considering leaving, I don't know what you were using the waistpack for, really.

I use a small cross body that holds lots of small things and you are hardly aware it's there. It's comfortable, light, secure, and 'very' handy!! Some things I refuse to be without.

My waist pack has a built in wallet that holds several credit cards, so I used to use it to hold my drivers license, credit card, ATM card, insurance card, and KTTW card. I also used it for DS9's epi-pens since they fit right into there. We have been using the backpack for water bottles and ponchos.
