Truth time - how many of you pick restaurants based on the desserts?

Is there something called "the Kitchen Sink" somewhere? I may have this wrong....I'm new to all of this. I seem to remember a discussion...and pictures of something called that.

If so, where can you get one? How much is it?

TiA!!

Jeeeeez, DisneyZigs - talk about starting at the top! The Kitchen Sink is a huge sundae that they sell at Beaches & Cream (at the Beach Club), that has about eight scoops of ice cream and every topping they have! If you start your dessert debauch there, well, all else will pale by comparison! LOL!

Funny to read that so many of you don't go big for desserts. On one hand I feel bad that you don't enjoy those incredible treats, but on the other, I'm jealous that you can be so good to your bodies! LOL!

Anyway, just got back from my Weight Watchers weigh-in, and I lost five pounds this week! I gotta whittle down by August so I can eat everthing I wrote on the first post - and try some of the other desserts you guys mentioned! I know I'd love the german chocolate cookies.

Truthfully, I don't choose on desserts. I have found that what I get all hyped up about from these boards are not usually something I like. Example, Grapefruit cake from Brown Derby and koko puffs at Kona. I did try the kahlua torte at Kona on our last trip. YUM, finally something I like. If we have room for dessert we pick something to share. :thumbsup2

Honestly, I love them so much I'll order dessert first, then worry about dinner after that. Then I think "why did I do that, I feel sick". :guilty:

I must confess too! Although I choose kid friendly, I like to browse the adult beverage menu if available.

SAVORY rules for restaurant choices for us.

especially since we've been known to nosh all day long on sweets....so dessert is a lower priority at dinner time.

I think that's part of it for me too. It's not that I'm being good to my body,lol..It's that I probably already went in the bakery or the candy store,or got chocolate in the WS or funnel cakes etc.. I'm usually just full by dessert.

Depends on the restaurant. Boma I go to mainly for the desserts, and soups.

Thank you for the link to that insane sundae!! My kids are not going to believe this when we order it, I can hardly wait.

Our main guiding factor for chosing our restaraunts is the main course and appitizer, but when we are trying to decide between two or three restaraunts then the final call comes down to what desserts they have, since hubby is a picky dessert eater so if we have two or three restaraunts that are equal in all else we may as well go for the desserts.

I'm an "atmosphere" kind of gal, so, for the most part, I try to pick a restaurant that gets good reviews that also has "atmosphere". It's kind of a toss-up w/ me between good food & good atmosphere. When I'm at Disney, I don't want to eat somewhere that gets bad reviews but I also probably wouldn't eat somewhere that good reviews but didn't have the "atmosphere" I was looking for... e.g., Yachtsman Steakhouse generally gets good reviews, but I'd pick California Grill way before I'd choose YS just because of the setting at CG.

Of course, w/ a 6 year old little girl & a 4 year old little boy, most of the "atmosphere" has been of the character nature... Of the 10 ADR's I currently have scheduled for our upcoming trip, only 3 of them are not character-meals. :rolleyes1 Sad, isn't it?

But, there are few restaurants that I've chosen solely for the dessert factor. Last year, we went to Boma strictly because I wanted to try a Zebra Dome! :teeth: (And, it turned out to be a really good restaurant - I wish I could fit it into our schedule this year...) This year, one of the reasons I chose Mama Melrose's for our FDP is that they have tiramasu for dessert, and I adore tiramasu!

Oops, hit the button too soon! ANYWAY:

I'm going to Liberty Tree Tavern for the carmel apple crisp with shortbread crust.

Cape May for Oreo Bon-bons

'Ohana for a coconut snowball (and they best have it, or heads will roll! LOL!)

Garden Grill for cherry crisp and vanilla bean ice cream

Alfredo's for tirimasu

Now if only they had a decent cup o' Joe to go with my desserts . . .

if you want excellent desserts with an excellent cup of coffee, JIKO is the way to be. :thumbsup2: As far as I know, it's one of only a handful of restaurants that don't have NEscafe.

Yes, I had the lovely pressed-pot last August at Jiko (also had it at Boma) and I really enjoyed it! I don't like strong coffee, but after the stinky coffee at WDW, that pressed pot tasted like gold!!!

I have never gone anywhere for the desserts...I have a worse problem...I pick them based on the beer :confused3
