Trustworthy DIS Renters

I am a long time poster, but created this username to keep the person I am renting from being singled-out...
So here goes, I am currently in the transaction of renting points from a DVC member on the DIS. They have been extremely helpful to me, I've checked on the Comptroller's website to verify points, I received a contract, Received confirmation number and linked it to MDE, but within the next couple weeks the remaining balance of the money is due for the rental. I am getting nervous that after they receive the remaining money my reservation will be canceled, etc. SOOOO I was wondering if it would be appropriate to start a thread from renters who had a good renting experience with a named DIS Member...
Ex. "I rented 100 points from DisneyWorldCrazed. Everything went smoothly" or something like that. I feel like it would benefit the rentee(having some security that the member has done other rentals) and the renter for getting praise of being a good renter. I know renting points is all about trust, but this would definitely help!

instead of posting under a different name (i believe against the board rules), ask the renter for references. i personally think its shady to post under a different account.

Ask for, and check, references. That is your best guide.

The DIS is not going to get into the "renter-rating" business. It's been suggested before and they've said no for very good reasons.

Renting requires trust. It comes with risk. You're paying a lot less for a room by taking on that additional risk. If you don't trust the person you're working with or you aren't willing to take on the additional risk, you should book directly with Disney.

To add to what JimMIA said, one reason we don't have a rental rating system is that it would be easy to create user name to give yourself a good review, or others a bad review.

Respectfully, if you are still this worried about the reservation, you probably should not rent from DVC owners.

FWIW, if you are renting from someone who posted an offer on the DIS Rent/Trade Board and followed the suggestions in the thread entitled, IMPORTANT!! - **How to use this Board** - PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING, there is only a very small chance of encountering a problem. David's has a similar reputation.

I've rented many times. You really have to ask yourself, why would the renter do what you're saying? Reports of scam, generally involve Western Union Scams. You have the renter's name, address, proof that they are an owner. Yes, now is the time for your leap of faith.

Remember the owner has a lot to lose to. What if you damage the property? Break the rules, put 10 people in a studio.

Just saying there is risk on both sides. You have small claims court as an avenue if something goes wrong, but I highly doubt anything will.
