True non-transferability of park tickets

I bought two 10-day no expiration tickets for my in-laws several years ago. They used maybe 2 or 3 days of them but will no longer be going to Disney with us. Since I paid for them, is transferring them to me totally out of the question (the spirit of this was to prevent tix being bought on the secondary market) or is there some way around it?

Once they are used, they are tied to that person until they die - it doesn't matter who bought them.

Under the letter of the rules, they're non-transferrable under any circumstance.

In a practical sense, if the last time they were used was before the current finger-scanners were in place, it really doesn't matter all that much. (I don't know offhand when the current finger-scanners were introduced.) Well, unless they were a ticket type that had demographics info - name & address - attached. This is most common for FL resident and other discounted tickets.

While I wish I had purchased more of the no-exp passes years ago, I think you have hit on the one drawback of the no-exp passes.

Not to be too morbid, but if they pass & you have the death certificate, then approach Disney & see what can be done?

If nothing else you could link them to a couple phantom people on your MDE account and use them to get extra FPs.

I would probably go to guest relations and explain the problem. See what they say.

As someone else pointed out if they never had the bio-scan used with them then there is hope. You just have to know what was the last park visited. I'm not sure when bioscans started though so that could be the kink in it.

2004, I think.

If these are paper tickets you're in luck. You will need to go to guest relations or ticket booth to exchange them for new plastic cards. When I turned mine in they asked what name I wanted on each one and they wrote on the back. I/we had no issues using even though I picked random names.

Though the years of finger scanning whenever it failed the CM just hit a button and in I went. It would be interesting to know if anyone has ever been denied entrance failing the finger scan.

Many, many times.

And...
:welcome: to the DISboards, Bullwinkle!

I have an AP but last spring sunscreen on my finger kept making me fail the fingerprint scan-so they took my pic so now if it fails they look at the pic on their iPad to make sure it is really me lol

We booked a trip for 4 people, us and one other adult and her daughter. Unfortunately they cannot go anymore. We are going to update the hotel reservation and dining plan to another couple that is going with us instead. Would it be possible for her to use her magicband with her tickets since it hasn't been used yet?

My mom passed and still had five days left on a no expiration ticket. I contacted Disney to see if we could transfer them for an upcoming trip, and was told no.

Yes. You really don't have to change the names on the reservation and dining plan. Just have the new people use the MBs, FPs, and Dining credits.

You can do it in person. You'll need to bring the death certificate.
