Truck/trannie issues

Take a look at your truck, Carol, 'cause I'm pretty sure it already has one on it. I had a Sporttrac from '02 and it was standard on it.

Oh, that would be kewl :-) Oh wait, did yours have the tow package and the 7-pin already?? Mine didn't. I added the Class III hitch a few years ago, and added the 7-pin and charge line when I bought the T@B

Timing belt might do it:) But you gave it a helluva shot there girl!!!! My wife would assist in CRUSHING my hand, and thats only if she felt like getting dirty!!!

On the other hand...on your vehivle..it might just be the FAN belt!!!

Actually, not to get technical, but it would be the fan belt. It would only have a timing belt if it were a 4 banger. And then it would be under a timing belt cover, and the valve cover. I guess if we want to get real technical it was most likely a serpentine belt. Which gets it's name from serpent, because it snakes around all the pulleys, taking the place of 2-3 belts.

I have proven my intelligence again!!!! And what the hell's a "vehivle"???:confused3

I actually didn't even notice that. And I don't mean to correct, my wife gets so mad at me because I do it all the time.

Fugeddaboudit!!! In my house, the wifes the corrector(and I give people PLENTY to correct!)...Im used to it!!! :thumbsup2

there are 6 bangers with timing belts now, not just 4's. and the explorer if it didnt have the tow package from the factory, it might not have a seperate cooler. but just go down to your auto parts store and get a hayden cooler. some say to get the one closest to your vehicle weight, ive always gone a little bigger just to be on the safe side. ill look around my "stash" and see if i got a spare laying around and let ya know

There are even 8 cylinder engines with timing belts now. I was surprised to learn that my '02 Tundra had a timing belt and not a chain.

This reminds me to go back and check on what the recommended maintenance schedule is for changing that belt. It's been done once before, and I just got to thinking that it's probably due for a new one. Nearly 160,000 miles on that puppy. :thumbsup2 Crossing my fingers that it lasts a while longer.

I had to have the class III hitch put on along with the 7 pin connector. I did have a 4WD, but not sure that really made the difference. I am pretty sure when I got mine that the tranny cooler was standard equipment. Easy to tell - just look under the hood in front of the radiator for a little extra one with lines running to the tranny. My F150 came with the class III hitch, 4 and 7 pin connectors, tranny cooler and towing rear end - sure made the switch easier.

WOW! I need to look under the hood of some of these newer trucks. I grew up the son of a wrench puller, so I spent a lot of time under the hood of a vehicle. But that was the 80-90's. Now I spend my days behind a keyboard or under the hood of a PC.
