Not sure if this has happened to anyone... but I am signed up for the daily alerts on Kayak.... today I got an email that there was a fare for $199 for our trip April 12 - April 20, 2008. I had told myself if the fare gets below $200 then book it!!! SO much to my surprise I click on the link... it brings up my search.. SYR to MCO Apr 12 to April 20... $199 for JetBlue.... yes JetBlue... so I click on the JetBlue button and it changes my date to January 9th - which is the date on the JetBlue website that they are booking thru... how can Kayak be advertising dates ....are they just projecting? I didn't think they did that.... just frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!

This happened to me a few weeks ago just prior to the Dec JB fares being released, I would click on the link but then the fares showed up as 10/31. It was doing it on sidestep.com also so I think it's an issue with JB, not the search engines.

Except it is the search engines that are providing the data, this happens on sidestep and kayak alot, it has to do with the programming on the search engine website, when you click the link you then get accurate information from the actual airlines sites. Which is why if you click on a flight they let you know that the prices might change, because the search engines don't want to be held responsible if there is a change.

I find that the promised dates, times and prices for Northwest are almost always not available, once you click on the itinerary on kayak.com

Hi, I'm chief architect @ kayak.com. The Jet Blue problem is one that's recently come up and has to do with their new web site. JB only publishes fares about 8 months in advance; it used to be the case that when we searched them for beyond that, they would return us nothing. But due to a glitch in the way the new site works, we started getting just the farthest out flights for all search beyond. Which is annoying, to say the least!

To make a long story short, we have a fix for this, and it either went into place this week or will next week.

Sorry for the confusion!

Best Regards,

Bill, chief architect, kayak.com

So there is no chance that JetBlue may be going to open up those dates early Kayakbillo? Great Site by the Way!.... When I phoned yesterday and talked to Jet Blue's booking agents (twice), one actually told me that they sometimes open up dates a couple of months early. Last year when the same thing happened, Kayak sent me the email and I was luck enough to book just as the flights were entering their system. The agents kept asking me what is this Kayak and how did I find out! I was really hoping it was not a glitch with Kayak but maybe the start of Jet Blue competing with the major carriers by putting their dates out there as well. I will keep checking anyway, Just In Case! :surfweb:

I can't say if B6 will or won't start booking farther in advance. I hope they do, since it would make planning my family's Disney vacation easier! If and when they do, we'll be on top of it as soon as we can and include those results in our searches.

Best,

billo

I agree about the great job Kayak does.... I search them EVERYDAY!!!! I too hope they open up those dates a little early... I really love to get the non-stops flights that book up so fast.
