Trouble with Credit Card

Just thought I would post about this as I was faced with a real situation at DisneySea a week or so ago. My problem seemed to stem from the fact that I was using an eSIM so my phone number was no longer valid. After entering DianeySea I attempted to purchase a Premier Access pass and then realized that the two factor authentication wanted to text me on my phone number. I tried to see if I could change the authorization to email but that wasn’t possible. So I was really stuck and couldn’t do anything. I ended up having to change the credit card to one of my daughters (15 hour time difference) and they then had to text me every time there was a code to be entered. I did go to Customer Service and they really couldn’t help but they did direct me to purchase a DPA manually, which I did, but there was next to nothing left at this point. So, in summary, I got to do very little in DisneySea as this mess took up about three hours to resolve. Just food for thought and something to consider if using an eSIM and two factor authentication.

We used an eSIM with our iPhones. There’s a way to set it up to receive texts and calls to your original number but use the data for internet access from the eSIM. You may have to pay to send texts and answer calls. Receiving texts is free. If you have ATT, be sure it’s not trying to use the international day pass. Just pay by the text or minute for calls. You may have to call ATT and tell them that you absolutely don’t want the day pass. Someoitbwull just automatically use it without your choosing. I got a text from one of my credit card companies about a charge and was able to handle it.

Also let them know you are traveling if that’s an option. Some CC will let you switch the text notifications to email.

I am actually from Canada and our cell plans are really @!&&. I guess I just didnt think about the two factor thing before I left so I assumed I would t need the number at all. I do have a similar be plan we call Roam like Home and when I called them I wanted to remove it as I was using an eSIM and their advice was for them just to turn off the data so it wouldn’t actually activate accidentally if I made an error while traveling. So that’s what we did. I’m not sure there was a way to do it differently based on that. I wish I had been able to practice in some way before entering the parks but I guess not possible. I paid for our rooms through the website so I thought I was pretty safe. Well I will know for next time!

I only know about the stupid ATT day pass enabling automatically, because it happened to us. We had no way of knowing until the bill came. My husband got them to refund it and only charge us for the few texts we made. We also made them disable it, since we had a trip to Europe a couple of months later. They just want to mess you over whenever they can.

Ack! Thanks for sharing. I enabled international for a month on my Verizon plan so I won't have to use an eSim (it was $80, a bit more expensive but one less thing I'll have to juggle thinking about everything else)
