Just curious. Are there times of the year that you definitely need that 11 month window to get into OKW? Does it make a difference if you are seeking a studio, 1BR or 2BR? GV?

Thanks in advance for your comments

Since OKW has the largest number of units it does tend to be relatively easy to get in at the 7 month mark. In fact, I made a reservation for a two bedroom and a studio about three months out just this spring!

However, there are exceptions. If you are wanting a GV pretty much any time of year, if you are going the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve or the week of Easter you will probably run into problems booking. I'm not sure of other size units or times of year, but I'm sure somebody else will jump in here too.

President's Day week was hard. I did it 11 months out and got what I wanted, but when I tried to add a studio the same week I had lots of trouble. I finally got all but one night and since it was the first night I just stayed off site.

I had no trouble booking a 1 BR at the seven month mark for the week following July 4th.

This will be my first time at OKW and I am looking forward to staying at "the one true DVC resort" with my family. :D

I recently booked OKW for the week after the 4th of July. So I made the ressies at about 2 and 1/2 months out. No problem at all getting a 2 bedroom. Last year we booked for the beginning of September at about 4 months out and could have gotten a GV if we wanted it. We almost took it, but we just didn't need that much space. ;)

I was able to get two 2 bedrooms for Thanksgiving right before the 7 month mark. I had to wait list one night to get a dedicated two bedroom. I reserved a lock off for that night so we would be sure to have somewhere to stay. My wait list has already come through. I can't wait for our first trip to OKW.:)

I had no trouble at the 7 month window booking a 1 BR at OKW for Easter week last year. We really enjoyed OKW! :)

I have never tried to get a GV so that I do not know about, but OKW has always been available for a studio and a 1 BR as close to 3 months before a trip when I have called MS and this included summer months, 4th of July week, Spring break, President's Day week and most recently last Christmas.

We have never had difficulty booking at OKW with the 7 month window, even over holidays. However, we have not tried to reserve a GV........

Just booked a 2-BR OKW 10 days out for a Mon-Wed stay for family next week. Nothing available at the other resorts. It seems there is a lot of turnover on the OKW waitlist as people often book OKW and waitlist for their home resorts. We don't own at OKW, but like it as a less point expensive option at the 7 month window. We will try to stay there June 2003.:)

Our points are at VB and we did not have a problem this year or last getting a 1BDR at OKW over the 4th of July at the 7month window.

As mentioned, OKW is probably the easiset of the WDW DVC resorts based on its size and the 'attractions' at the other resorts. We just made ressies for a 2BR and two Studios in earl december. There were numerous (over 90) 2BR's available when we called at the beginning of the month.

However, the only places there were 2BR's available were OKW and BCV. This fit our concerns of going early Dec. as its very popular with DVCers due ot the lower point costs and the fact that it is effectively Christmas everyday from T-Day through December. :)

Hope this helps,
Joe

Never had any problem getting a room at Okw at the 7 month window. I guess it's what makes it so appealling to some. Cheaper points and usually rooms available on short notice. I heard they even leave the light on. Just kidding,
I would think the tougher times to get the rooms are over the holidays, like Christmas and New Years. I see people trying to scalp these dates on ebay every year. One year it was pretty nice, we left a day early driving straight through from NY. We were staying at the BW. In Georgia, we called to see if they had any extra rooms a the BW for our early arrival, but they were sold out. We wound up getting a two bedroom at the old key west on six hours notice. It was great, we thought we were gonna have to stay outside Disney. Our kids understood it wasn't BW, but it was still in Disney, and it was only for the first night. You will enjoy the first DVC resort, and later on try the newer ones, and see how far they've come. Enjoy!:)

In reading all these posts I get a kick out of the "can you top this" attitude of which DVC resort is best. We've stayed at all but the BCV and think that they are all great resorts with none being better than the other. Face it folks -- DVC resorts are all beautiful and each has a different appeal. Enjoy!!!! The way I feel is that I'm lucky to be able to go to any one of them.

Although is was a studio, we booked OKW with 1 month before arrival.:D

We too love all the resorts for their individuality. Trying BCV - October 2002.

Note: Haven't gotten BWV but have walked around.

We booked OKW last year 4 months out for the period around New Years Eve (10 days total) and had no problem with the exception of the first day getting a 2 br. We were waitlisted for the 2 br, but reserved for the 1 br. We ended up getting the 2 br for the entire trip. Loved OKW - even though we own at BWV and VWL - look forward to staying in one of the GVs. We love all the resorts - there's no place like home.
