Tropicana or Fairfield Inn

Tropicana. It's closer to the gates and the rooms looked decent enough when my DD's chorus group stayed there.

Fairfield doesn't offer any type of free breakfast if that matters to you.

Well that is one plus for the Tropicana. I am really at a lost for either hotels. I have looked at every review on the net and that is not helping much either. I figured I would hear what the dis'ers have to say.

Well I can tell you that we stayed at the Tropicana and liked it very much. The location is so fabulous and the free breakfast is not fancy but its free. Any money we can save by not eating in the parks is great with us. The Tropicana had a recent refurb, the room was nice sized, not large but not cramped and it was spotlessly clean. The staff was also very helpful and courteous. The Fairfield is a more of a highrise but it also has the exterior corridors. I remember wanting to stay there once and I didn't seem to get much in the way of information or good reviews when I asked on this board which led me to the staying at another hotel. The Fairfield looks nice however, maybe someone who has stayed there recently will have something concrete to tell you!

Thanks Amy, I am leaning towards the Tropicana due to location at this point. We stayed at DLH in January and are getting a great deal on flight so we thought we would do a quick trip. I would rather stay on site the but the price difference is huge this time around.
OK, anyone else have any input?

Well I love the DLH and always try very hard to stay onsite but sometimes it just doesn't happen! Our Tropicana trip was a last minute kind of thing, we had AP's but didn't want to spend a fortune on lodging and since it was last minute rack rate at the DLH was about $350 a night. The Tropicana was great, my favorite of our offsite experiences. The location was wonderful. It wasn't fancy but it fit our needs just fine. We enjoyed the pool area and had no complaints. I hope its as good for you!

Great, well it looks like it will probably be it. I respect your opinion as it appears that you have stayed at a lot of places. I am not expecting anything fancy, just clean, close, with a clean pool.

We've stayed at the Tropicana two summer trips in a row, and it was nice enough for us. Clean rooms, big enough for our family, free continental breakfast, and really close to the parks. It made coming back for naps very nice.

Sounds good to me. I am going to book today. I am still having a hard time with all the bed bug posts that I saw on the Fairfield from about six months ago.

While I think your Tropicana plans sound good (obviously since I was one of the ones singing its praises!), I wouldn't let the bedbug posts about the Fairfield Inn scare me. There were bedbug sightings at many of the hotels around DL, including the GCH where I stayed (no problems). Also the BWPPI which I am staying at in June. ALWAYS check any room at any hotel for the telltale brownish stains on the mattress. Unfortunately, they can happen anywhere but I still think are uncommon. If you google "bedbugs" you will find some information about them and what to look for. It's nasty though!

Well we booked the Tropicana and put in a request for a two queen, nonsmoking room (son has asthma). This will be our second trip from WA State in 3 months. We have the fever I guess and are going to work those new AP's hard!!

Disneyland fever is a good thing to be afflicted with! Enjoy your trip(s) and enjoy the Tropicana. Be sure and post how you liked it when you get back!

Will do. I think we are going to try and go again in September, just DH and I, if they offer the good AP rates.
