We are going down the week of December 9th, and staying at the Tropicana...we booked it awhile back because it seems to be very close (important to us as we have 2 small kids), and because we got a pretty good rate, around $99 a night.

However....I see that it seems most people here don't like it that much and prefer to stay elsewhere, so now I am a little apprehensive...what are we in for and is it really that bad? LOL!!:confused3

My Mom and I stayed there for the first time this October, and we thought it was decent. It is VERY close to the parks and extremely convenient. The rooms are somewhat dated (especially the suites, I thought), but were clean, we didn't find any insects or have any issues of that sort. The beds were comfortable enough, the air conditioning worked well for us. The breakfast is very minimal, but the rooms do have a fridge and microwave so we just stocked up on breakfast/snack items and grab coffee/juice from their breakfast.

We did have an issue at check-in, we had booked through on online booking company which had our correct reservation, but Tropicana had us arriving a day later than we had reserved. The front desk staff sorted it out in about 10 minutes, and gave us a suite for the first night with a view of the fireworks, then moved us to our room the next day, no muss no fuss.

No major complaints from us, it was nothing fancy, but it was adequate for us!

Its a good hotel. My parents are staying for 12 days in December to go to Disneyland. We will be staying there a week also. Weblike it cause it's close to the parks

I've stayed there three times. No complaints, great location, would do so again.

Count me among those who like the Tropicana. It's across the street from the crosswalk to DL, isn't gaudy, clean, and we had no problems with noise from other rooms. We pack beverages, instant oatmeal, and protein bars to make up for the limited free continental breakfast offered by the hotel. I admit I haven't stayed here since 2007, but that's only because we have the budget to finally stay onsite. If it wasn't for the early entry perk of the onsite hotels, I would stay at the Tropicana again.

This is our Go-To-Place. It is clean, quiet, and directly across the street from DL. I don’t think you can get any closer. My bff is a flight attendant and was pleased to see that they launder their comforters after each visit, and wrap their blankets in sheets. She is very picky about these things. :-)

Also – we usually have 5 in the room, and they have no problem with this. We bring our own blow up mattress, push the beds over a bit, and it fits fine. A bit cramped, but we don’t spend a lot of time in the room and we don’t want to pay for a second room, so it works well for us.

As others have stated, the breakfast is a joke. Oh – Bring some of the instant Star Bucks Coffee tubes and whatever else you put in your coffee, and you will be happy in the morning. :-)

We have stayed many times and never had a problem with reservations or check-in. We usually arrive by 6:00 a.m. and although they don’t have a room for us at that time, they do check us in early and there is always a room available by the time we take our afternoon break.
