Tropical Storm Wilma ~ To Affect Fla?

I'm starting to get scared. Our plane leaves Monday morning, Oct 24 st 7:35 from Providence. I just dont know what to think..I'm already so stressed with everything goin on. :(

I would think the flight in would be the most concern (perhaps this has been discussed). Approaching from the East? I would think your chances are very good. Our chances from Indy should be good as well. With everything going on in the world, I'm not stressin' over this (not trying to be preachy). :sunny:

We are arriving MCO at around 1pm on Saturday 10-22.
Hoping Wilma stays away. Then we cruise 10-27.

Oh boy!!

here we go!!

I leave Thursday the 20th. After EIGHT straight days of rain here in Rhode Island....I am off to 6 days of rain in Disney. I may cry!!

Being in NJ, I have to agree here! But, I always say a rainy day at WDW is better than any day in NJ!!! I am hoping the storm stays away and we get some sun! And if not, you throw on a poncho! :earsboy:

I remember when we got married 3 years ago (the 21st) at Disney, I was so upset when there was a 30% chance of rain on my wedding day...the CM doing my hair, said they don't worry in FL unless it is an 80 or higher % of rain...

I've always remembered that, and for me, it's always been the case!

Here's to a dry, sunny vacation!!! :sunny:
Safe trips everyone!

Wouldn't it be nice if they REALLY could predict the weather?? But all they can actually tell you is what MIGHT happen. Valuable information certainly, but always forces everyone to plan for the worst case scenario. Hoping no one's WDW vacation is impacted!!!
And keep watching those forecast sites. It could be completely different tomorrow morning--.
Or not.

Always the voice of reason. ( as I run down the street screaming) :earseek:
It is looking less and less like I will make it to Disney on Sunday. I just keep praying she takes a very sharp turn and disappears somewhere!

Just woke up to this. It is a strong storm. Predicted to be intense and now predicted to be heading right toward me. Not the best news to wake up to. At least for me it will come over land before it gets to me at the dade/broward line east but things depend on the strength as to what will happen. I knew I should not have put off scanning the familly pictures.

The report i just saw on tv shows it staying south of Tampa...could either be just south of Tampa all the way down toSw Fl. Of course, at this point it may change. But the one model that shows it just south of tampa, has it going up thru Orange County which is Disney area..so we still need to watch it. Supposed to be early morning Sunday.

Everything old is new again! Same thing happened on our trip last year, stared and watched and hoped that a storm that was brewing wouldn't effect our trip.

Current NOAA track has the storm more than 100 miles SOUTH of Orlando as it passes over the peninsula. At 8 a.m. Sunday, the storm's centre is some 175-200 nautical miles out over the Atlantic.

If Wilma hits this weekend it will most likely cause all the Florida residents to cancel their "weekend trips" and us outsiders can have the parks all to ourselves...ha ha ha

Translation? :rotfl: Make it simple. Will my flight land on Sunday at noon or not! :rotfl2:

I dont know if I can handle any more days off from school just yet. DD14 really is a good kid, but somehow she is always under my feet or disturbing Ariel (7mo) when shes home from school. There have been at least 4 days cancelled so far this year, and also for the last 2 weeks shes had 2 days off for Jewish holidays each week. Maybe Im just cranky b/c my a/c broke today, but I think if school is cancelled again next week, Im running away to Vegas baby! :rotfl: :wave2:

At this point I think the best scenario is that the storm tracks further south away from the peninsula. Let's keep our fingers crossed for a more southerly track vs. a more northerly track.

Our flight leaves Philly at noon this Saturday...and arrives at MCO at 2:20. I'm saying that our flight will be fine. The storm will be way south at that point and our flight will NOT be canceled/delayed. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! ;)

I just want to GET THERE!! :goodvibes

Unfortunately for those heading it this weekend it will be exactly the opposite. If it comes in between Naples and Tampa, coastal Floridians head to Orlando.... of course many from Tampa did this last year to escape Charley and we got it much worse than they did.

I agree. This storm is going to put a kink in a lot of plans. If the Florida Gov issues a state of emergency all bets are off. This means hotels and resorts will probably give the right of way to local Floridians. Tourists will be second in nature.

In cases of the Florida peninsula getting hit most local residents head to Orlando due to the fact it is in the center of the peninsula. I would highly advise contacting your hotel or resort to make sure they have space for you before you leave.

If you already have paid reservations, they wont give your room away. I am staying overnight the 28th, i have paid reservations and I am a local so i figure if this thing is bad where i live, and there is no power, even by next fri i am sure Disney will have power and I will be comfy for one night at least. But i "think" central Fl will be spared a major hit at this point..

Another Saturday departure - hope our flights don't get messed with. We depart 8am and arrive in MCO approx. 4-5ish. We are then flying to Fort Myers to visit family. We will drive back to Orlando for a Disney stay on Tuesday. MickeynPluto will you be at Pop on Tuesday the 25th?? If so you will have some Dis neighboors (we stay 25-27th). I've reqested the 50's building. Maybe we will run into one another. I will be wearing my Lime Green Mickey, say hello if you see us.

I am remaining positive on this storm thing and bringing ponchos! ;)
