One of our best trips (out of more than 20) to WDW was during a tropical storm. There was no thunder--just heavy rain--and we strapped on our ponchos and headed to the parks. Lines were non existent and we were able to ride whatever we wanted to as long as we were willing to brave the rain between rides.
Sometimes on rides, as was the case with Dumbo. We were in elephants ankle deep in water but there was nobody else on the ride and we laughed the entire time.
It actually was disappointing when the rain stopped and all of the fair weather Disney fans emerged from their rooms to mess up our park time.
