tropical Storm Edouard

Hey you're suppose to give me a head ups. I just found out about this one last night. :scared1: That's what I get for not watching tv.

I did (maybe you haven't been there to read it ;) )!! I just found out about it last night.

I am trying to decide if it is worth the effort to board up the windows. Myhusband is at work and won't be back til after the storm so I would ahve to either find help or do it alone. On one hand the storm isn't big, but on the other hand, I have all the precut boards and plylox clips.....it seems a shame not to use them and I iwll be kicking myself if I lose a window.

Anyone else boarding up?

I'm not going to be boarding up, but I am going out and taking in all my lawn furniture and pot plants.

This area is not going to be pretty by this time tomorrow. The storm is really looking better on satellite this morning, and there is nothing but VERY warm water and no shear ahead of it. The only good thing is that it is as close to land as it is -- that will inhibit it somewhat.

We're leaving a bit early today (there are only 3 of us who work here) then be out tomorrow. I have a bunch of stuff to pick up/tie down at home. I wish I could board my biggest windows, but don't really have anywhere to store the plywood even if I could manhandle it myself. Luckily my house is oriented North/South, and since it's a patio home there isn't much space between buildings on the east and west sides. I'm more worried about our power being out for an extended time.

The rest of y'all down here be safe!

In years to come, they will be hauling Neil Frank out of the crypt to cover anything that could even potentially become a hurricane. Don't you know it chaps the other meteorologist's hineys when they pull out that fossil to cover the big stories and treat them as if they are useless and wet behind the ears? :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

BTW, if a pelican drops a load of bird poo on an oil rig, the price of gas goes up, let alone a tropical storm or a hurricane. :headache:

This storm will graze most of the oil rigs in the Gulf Of Mexico. I sure hope it doesn't do a lot of damage to the wells because oil will spike.

As of right now oil has dropped $4/barrel due to the storm's path not looking like it will be causing damage or disruption. The drop was due to the storm AND economic data saying American's are not spending as much on energy as we used to. Go figure....:confused3

We aren't boarding up but we will need to take in some stuff from the back yard that can easily be blown around.
Odd how it's so sunny and clear here today. You never guess that a TS is headed for us.

The grocery stores and gas stations are packed around here today.

Here too, my neighbor just got a generator. I don't see it being that bad, but what do I know.
I'm going to at least charge my phone and may get some ice.

Walmart and Walgreens both have some small battery powered fans. I got a couple. It's been so freakin hot here if we lose power I'm atleast going to need a tiny breeze.

Plus we got a small charcoal grill since we didn't have one. Other than that we just got drinks like water, juice boxes, soda and snacks.

Yep, gotta make sure those aren't damaged. :lmao: Kidding, I know what you meant. (I hope.)

Hope you all weather the storm ok down there. :)

:smokin: :lmao:

Yeah, I guess I should have said "potted" plants! :rotfl:

Classes are starting to get canceled at the local colleges. DD is taking a Summer class at San Jac, and they just canceled class for tonight and all day tomorrow. I also heard College of the Mainland is closed as well. I'm sure others will follow (if they haven't already).

Channel 13 was saying that it is moving a little slower than they thought and the pressure inside was dropping some (that means there is a chance for the winds to increase).

:wave2: Hi neighbor! :flower3:

I don't think there will be too much to this storm, but we will sure keep an eye on it. I remember Allison, it was just a Tropical Storm too, but it sure did drop a bunch of rain!!

Take care! :)

Right. Luckily we didn't flood then but we surely were some of the lucky ones.

Now they say they are seeing some thunderstorms in the storm means it may be trying to intensify.

Hi Neighbors! I used to live in Friendswood (my sister is there now) but I moved just down the road to League City.

Very few folks are boarding their windows so I don't feel too bad about not boarding mine. I sure hope I am not sorry.
