This storm will graze most of the oil rigs in the Gulf Of Mexico. I sure hope it doesn't do a lot of damage to the wells because oil will spike.

Headed right for the offshore rigs!

"Much of U.S. offshore oil production was in the likely path of the storm, which could also threaten Gulf Coast refineries".

Hope everyone in the path stays safe! :goodvibes

Dang I guess I need to watch the news more often. I had no idea this was headed straight for us.

Katrina was multiple times more powerful and did less damage than might have been expected. A weak tropical storm is nothing to those big oil rigs. I promise they get worse weather from random thunderstorms that pop up than from most weak tropical storms. This one is still fairly weak and might barely reach hurricane strength before landfall - I doubt anyone who has lived near the coast for very long will even care.

But do speculators care? No. They'll jack up the price tomorrow morning just because. That needs to stop.

Katrina was more powerful however that may not mean a thing. Tornadoes are spawned during hurricanes and seas can get extremely rough. Each storm is unique.
7 years ago a tropical storm went inland in Texas came east towards Louisiana. It dumped 36" of rain on our town in less than 24 hours. No one was worried because it was "just" a tropical storm. Hundreds of houses were complete disasters and had to be torn down.
Since that storm, I never underestimate the destructive capability of any storm.

I was just thinking about that too. Allison did a lot of damage here in Houston. Major flooding all over the city.

Allison went up to east Texas, then returned and sat and DUMPED all of her rain.

This thing snuck up on us.

I was at the hospital sitting with my dad. This was the lead story on the news so mom and I took off like bats out of hell to clear the porch and gas the cars.

Bring it on. :rotfl2:

Just lucky dh is on vacation this week.

Hope everything is okay with your dad.

I was just watching Neil Frank and he said that Alicia formed in the same place this one has. That one made it up to a Cat 3 before it hit. Not that I'm saying this one will be a Cat 3 as well I just didn't realize Alicia started off in the same spot.

Allison flooded a lot over here too! We got her after she did the loop through Texas

This one snuck up on us big time!

You know, they brought him back for Dolly, too. It kind of cracks me up. It's like they think that Gene Norman can't handle the big weather events. :rotfl:

Thanks for the well wishes about my dad. He's getting a little better every day, and we'll take it. :thumbsup2

What's the word this morning?

This morning they were saying it could hit here early Tuesday am (like around 1 or so). Still a TS but they are still saying it might be a hurricane by the time it makes landfall.

Did they bring Neil back for this one, too??

This thing came up fast! I imagine no one will be going to work here tomorrow! Now as long as it moves out of here quickly and doesnt do too much damage. Fingers crossed!

Me neither. I just found out about an hour ago. Wow, not much time to prepare. :confused3

Hey you're suppose to give me a head ups. I just found out about this one last night. :scared1: That's what I get for not watching tv.

I guess that means I won't be sleeping tonight, I am sure it will be loud.
