tropical Storm Edouard

Well, I just got a flashlight that I can read with and some water. They cancelled classes at the college here tomorrow.

Hi Neighbors! I used to live in Friendswood (my sister is there now) but I moved just down the road to League City.

Very few folks are boarding their windows so I don't feel too bad about not boarding mine. I sure hope I am not sorry.

We are not boarding ours up either. I'm still looking for my flashlights. Dang kids always get them or dh doesn't put them back where they go and then we don't have a clue where they are. :sad2:

Cypress checking in.

My DH just left this morning for his first long business trip in a month--go figure. I still need to take down the pool fence and the umbrellas. That is all that I am going to do. I had to go to the grocery store this morning and it was a mad house--very little water on the shelves.

We are building a new house, so I am sure I will be running over there to check things out tomorrow afternoon. In our house now, we have had no flooding with the streets at all. I will know after the next 24 hours how our new neighborhood will weather.

Looks like my neighbors and I will be having a hurricane party for the next day or so!!:cool1:

Stay safe everyone!!

Sugar Land here. No boards for us. Just got back from the hospital and ready to hunker down. :thumbsup2 Going to get all of the kids' stuff out of the yard here in a little bit when it cools off somewhat.

It does seem eerie, knowing it is out there what with the weather so sunny and all. :confused3

Stay dry everyone!

Beaumont area here. I know, it is so hot and sunny, it's just strange.

Clear Lake NASA area - we were spending the week on Galveston with family from Chicago - needless to say we're back in Clear Lake. Strange sight on 45 - the Coast Guard was "evacuating" their smaller RIB boats from Galveston...:lmao: They must be moving them to another station.

We're up in the Woodlands, just expecting some much-needed rain... the part I'm worried about is we're supposed to fly out first thing (6:30) Wednesday morning from Hobby!

Hope they don't delay any Wednesday flights! :scared:

All y'all farther south than us, stay dry!

I was unlocking the back door when I got home and couldn't keep my hair out of my face for the wind. I looked around and told DD what a beautiful day it was. (Really couldn't believe how pretty it was...big puffy clouds...bright sun...wind cooling it off a little...:lovestruc )

About 2 hours later it rained REALLY hard for about 30 seconds. I was -> :confused3 Then I had my *DOH!* moment and realized it was such a pretty day 'cause there's a storm in the gulf. (Welll....DUH! LOL!) The weather is always just fantastic when there's a storm right off the coast. :sad2:

It was a beautiful day and this evening I was out and it was so nice and breezy. You can always tell when something is brewing out there!

Stay dry and safe, neighbors to the west!

We were supposed to get rain last night. Did that happen? I apparently slept too hard (FINALLY! YAY! LOL!) and heard NOTHING last night! LOL! (And can't tell outside...looks like a normal dewey morning here...)

It's whistling a lot here, rain 50mph gust winds, it's been this way at least since 5 am.

i'm in south west Louisiana...
We got lots of wind starting yesterday evening- and it is still blowing- still dark at 9:20 and the rain comes and goes. Nothing too bad.

I understand that cameron parish (south of me) had some damage but not too bad- mostly FEMA trailers with roofs sheered off- and downed powerlines- but most of lower cameron evacuated early yesterday-

Yesterday- it was so pretty it was hard to imagine a storm coming until the wind picked up

I just saw on the news 25,000 in Beaumont with no power. Hopefully you guys still have some, if not I hope they get it back on soon.

power still on here- they announced that they are lifting the evacuation for cameron parish (coastal south west LA parish) at noon today. They said all but one portion of the coastal road is open- which is pretty amazing- on section did wash away but I was amazed that a section closer to the gulf is open already.

We still have a lot of rain to come and winds are at 40 miles an hour- with gusts to the 60's but all and all- not too bad- I think they estimate the most rain to be like 8 inches locally- which isn't much for a tropical storm at all. I mean we can get 2 inches in a hour long afternoon thundershower during the summer.

I know the Beaumont area got hit with some unrelated weather on Sunday- so some had already had damage due to that- and I'm sure things that weren't damaged in that storm were weakened by it- and so that could be why that area is faring worse than it would have been.

So far though- no major tragedies reported- which is a good thing. Most in this area had it together for Rita and long before then too- they respect storms and understand that it may be a nusance to evacuate "for nothing" but they do it anyway- I think the only people who stayed behind in lower Cameron Parish- could not arrange to get their live stock out in enough time and stayed and sheltered with the animals.
