I just received a Kissimmee St.Cloud catalog today and there is a place that seems interesting, but I'd be worried it was just a good picture, but inreality a dump.

It is called Topical Palms Fun Suites, and they appear to be studio and 2 bedroom cottages surrounded by a resort area including a heated main pool, a kiddie pool and a poolside cafe.

It is located on 2650 Holiday Trail, Kissimmee, just south of 192.

Says it is 3 miles from WDW and you can get a studio with a queen bed, a double bed, full kitchen, etc for 59.00 a night

Anybody?

Hi Iowa Girl, our family stayed there last October for two nights. We rented a 2bdr for $79 per night. Tropical Palms is actually an Encore RV park. The "cottages" are actually trailers with siding to look like cottages. Our cottage was clean & nicely maintained. From what I understand the large studio is the same size as the 2bdr but without walls. In addition, they have a studio that is smaller. We had 2 adults & 2 teens and were advised to take either the larger studio or the 2bdr. The 2bdr contained: an open plan with livingroom, diningroom & kitchen - all in one area. There was a loft above one of the bedrooms and one bed & a bath at the other end. Our kitchen was small, but had a full sized stove, fridge & dishwasher. There is also a deck with a small picnic table. Towels are supplied by the park & you can "trade them in" each day at the office for fresh ones. There is a swimming pool & counter service for breakfast & lunch next to the pool. They had a $2.99 breakfast so we ate that both days. We were pleased by the park. The staff was courteous & helpful. We had more room than we had been getting in a regular hotel. The bedrooms are small there is just room for a bed, closet & room to walk around the bed in. However, having our teens separated (one in the loft, one in the bedroom) made our trip much more enjoyable. The previous trip to WDW we'd spent 10 nights in hotel rooms with our teens & had to endure fighting every night. This was a much better choice for us! Check out www.tropicalpalms.com for more information.

We were there last Sept. (in the 2 bedroom) and LOVED it!! I would stay there again in a heart beat.. So much better than being cramped in a hotel room.. :)

If you have specific questions, feel free to PM me..

You can also do a search here and you'll find my reviews as well as others..

By NO means is it a "dump".. WELL worth the cost in my book..

When are you planning on going?

I'm crazy :) , but I'm already thinking of next May 2003, possibly Spetember 2003--Hopefully I'm not crazy for planning this far ahead!!!!
We stayed and Country Inn and Suites Calypso Cay this last May and loved it, and would go back. Just thought I'd do a little research on other options, though.
I'm planning a li9ttle more 'hotel' down time this next trip and was looking for someplace nice, inexpensive and an awesome pool. I've been eyeing Silver Lake, Westgate Villas, and even this Tropical Palms. The first two I would have to win a skyauction bid, otherwise their rack rates are way too high.

I'm open for suggestions,
Thanks

Have you thought about checking into condos? At first I thought that they wouldn't be an option for us, but have found out that we can get a condo for about $500 for a week. We're going to give it a try when we go this fall.

has anybody been there in the starting of 2007? we have booked a cottage with a loft . any info would be great. thanks!:

Stayed there about 5 years ago. I would rate it as just ok. It was reasonably clean, but even back then could use some refurbing. The first unit they took us to was unacceptable, We would have just left then & there & stayed elsewhere, but they did put us in a nicer unit. Honestly, I think there are better places out there for only 20 more dollars a night like Cypress Pointe. Do a little bit more research....you could definitely find nicer accomadations. JMO :goodvibes
