I am looking for reviews of this campground. Has anyone stayed there? and if you did what did you think about it. Looking for some alternatives since the camground is full for the dates we are planning to go in March. Thanks.

I know it won't compare to FW but I've got to make some plans somewhere and a hotel just isn't our thing.

Haven't been there in about 6-7 years. It's mainly a hang-out for the retired snowbird bunch. Nothing fancy - but very conveniently located to all things Disney.

We stayed in one of their little cottage/villa rentals and really liked them-lots of space/clean etc- The pool area we hated it was WAY too small for the amount of people that place holds- people would put their towels on all the lounge chairs the day before to reserve them......in the water you could not move/swim. ( oh and the salt water pool someone mentioned is a very common alternative to regular chlorination systems- and not that salty as compared to say the ocean) It was nice to be able to walk from the campground go up to Old Town or stores/restaurants. Once we found out you can get a villa with more bedrooms/space and your OWN pool for about the same price I can't imagine going back. The sites for trailers seemed very open not really landscaped or private.

Hello, we stayed there about 1 1/2 years ago. We loved it. My kids were 15 and 10 at the time and both brought friends. We stayed by the pond with this huge big Umbrella picnic area and ther were tons of alligators! They were in the process of remodeling the restrooms with a really cool "Tropcial Decor" :fish:I would stay there again - plus itis nice to walk to OldTown and enjoy the outdoors! They are currently running RV sites for around 29.00 per night I saw on the web-site and cottages for 69.00. Have a good time!

I would continue to check fort wilderness. Somebody might cancel. I'm looking for more day in Dec. I check on line and if something opens up I call the reservation # and add days to my trip

What "Motherwild" said. Something will pop open. Keep checking.

I stayed in the cabins at Tropical Palms, 2 years ago, & will never stay again. It was horrible. Microwave, that didn't work, bathroom, is teeny, tiny. Big hole in floor where heat/air register should have been. Old/dirty.

The campsites, didn't look too bad, except right on top of each other, not a lot of room inbetween or landscaped very well. Other than that they would probably be ok.

Have you looked into TURKEY LAKE? Ive heard some good reviews from folks on here about it.

we have actually driven on the property just curious. once in 09 and 08.
they do not look nice at all. cramped and dirty and the pool was icky.
in 09 we looked in february and 08 it was summer time.

If you can't get in to FW I would second going to Bill Fredrick Turkey Lake Park. Look at my Webshots from 09/06,05/07, and 04/08. My shots have more of the campground in them. we stayed on sites 3, 4, and 18. They have FHU and W/E. all sites are paved and they have a pool on the weekends until Memorial dday when it opens everyday. Sites are shady but not level. there is one bathhouse and it is old but clean. Best of all it is cheap! Last time we paid $18 FHU.

I just stayed there last Sunday. Left a day early because of the snow around the DC/Northern VA area where I live. Couldn't get in a day early at FW so this was the next best thing.

Overall, the sites are close and small, designed for RV's of 10-20 years ago. Lots of cabins around in what appears to be former RV spaces.

The pool was nice for the 2 GS's. Pretty good guitar player/singer there too.

The showers were old, looked like something out of a barn, had lots of mold all over the bamboo ceilings. Had a 6 inch deep puddle around my sewer/water connections, had to use boots to make the hook ups.

Mostly a snowbird park, must have some package rates. My one night cost me $86 :scared1: AFTER my 10% Good Sam discount.

Not staying there again!

Best Regards!

Tropical Palms-$86????? Boy...Turkey Lake sounds better and better all the time!!
