The Tropical Jeep Safari Tour, any feedback out there ? And can someone clue me in as to the reason for the 10 year old child age requirement as well? DS will be 4 weeks away from birthday num 10, and this sounds like fun.

Thanks in advance careycrew

Is this a Disney excursion in Cozumel? If so, I don't know the specifics of this particular Disney excursion. However, when we sailed on the Voyager of the Seas this past August we did this Jungle Jeep Tour http://www.travelnotes.cc/cozumel/tours/jeep.html. You can read my review. We had a blast and think this is one of the best excursions we've ever done. Susan, our guide, was so nice and very knowledgeable about Mayan culture and the island itself. As far as age restrictions, we didn't have any. It was me, dh and our 3 boys (15, 12 and 8) and my brother. I would highly recommend this excursion. HTH

We also did this tour and had a great time , just to let u know they put 4 people in a jeep so if u have 2 people in your party
that means u could end up with another couple from New York...
and not knowing someone elses driving can be scary......
As im sure it was for them ...... but we all survived and
ended up at a very nice beach where we went for a swim and had a great fajita lunch and beverages bottled water and soda...
We made a stop at a gift shop had a funny name i cant remember someone else will...

We did this tour thru Disney and it was AWESOME!!!! I can see why they have a 10 year old minimum age because it IS VERY ROUGH!!! I got to drive and I had my friend with me...one in front and one in back. You really need to be free from any neck, back problems because it is really rough...did I say that already???

You start off in a parking lot behind the shopping mall at the end of the dock. There are about 15 or so jeeps in the line and a guide jeep in front and back. You drive about 5 miles or so out of town. First stop is the infamouse PeePeeStation. Really just a gift shop with a restroom. next you head down the highway a few more miles and cut off on a trail that runs parallel to the beach. There is dense foliage but every once in awhile you get awesome glimpses of the beach. The trail is narrow, rocky, rutted, and twisted....it really takes a lot to hold on to the steering wheel. I got to drive and I LOVED IT!! It was so rough that my watch flew off my wrist never to seen again!!!

After awhile we went to a little Mayan (sp) ruin and the guides gave us a bit of history of the area. We had a water break and then continued back. We stopped at a secluded beach and they provided a lunch of tacos and such. We could swim if we chose (make sure you wear your suit under you clothes as there is no place to change). We stayed there about an hour or so and then headed back to base. Again we stopped at the PeePeeStation for shopping and rest rooms.

All in all it was a great time. Here are some links to some pics of our trip.

My sister and brother-in-law and two of their kids went last week on the Jan 3 Magic. They ended up with a Tracker not a jeep. They had a very rough ride and did bottom out a number of times when the Jeeps did not. They loved the scenery.

Hope this helps.

We did this and we absolutely loved it! Hubby's only regret is that neither of us can drive a stick shift, so we had to be passengers for the whole time. Since the Jeeps hold four, we rode with a mom and adult daughter.
I'm not sure why they have the age requirement, but it might have something to do with the swimming. The water was very rough the day we did this, so the guides went into the water with us and kept us in a limited area. They watched very closely to make sure we were all okay.
The buffet lunch was delicious and it felt so good to cool off in the water, especially after getting so dusty in the Jeeps. And the stops at the Pee Pee Station on the way out and back are hilarious...you have to see their sign.

We did this in JUly 2003 and had a GREAT time and would do it again. Susan was our guide and the snorkling was fantastic. Our son(17) does drive a stick shift and Susan let him drive out and he had the time of his life. I would reccommend it to anyone. Have to go skiing now-with our youth-must say I'd rather be one Castaway Cay.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. This seems like a "must do" on our cruise. Thinking outloud then I guess ther are a couple of options available. You can book a tour through the Cruise Line or book your own through a different company.

Thanks Again for the info.
