Help. triptik says its about 12 hours from around the Richmond VA area. My friends say it takes 12 to get to South Carolina and I'm looking at more like 16-18.

Anyone know a round-about?

Thanks

If you're driving straight through down I-95, make no stops and hit no traffic, 12-13 hours is about right. I always add in a couple hours cushion to cover meal and bathroom breaks, so I would count on a 14 - 15 hr trip total.

On my last trip w/ my sis, we only stopped once for a quick meal (30 minutes maybe) and another couple quick bathroom breaks, and we made it to her house in Lumberton in around 9 hours. It's about another 4 hrs to the Richmond area.

We drive from Central NJ, and it's usually an 18-20 hour trip from our house to Orlando (1050 miles). Richmond is 6-7 hours, and South of the Border is exactly halfway.

Hope that helps.

12 hours from Richmond would sound about right. We drive from Central Pennsylvania and it takes about 17 1/2 hours including a few quick bathroom stops, fastfood and gas stops. We are about 5 1/2 hours north of Richmond.

Of course we always stop overnight somewhere in South Carolina, but the travel time counts from the time we leave, till we stop at night, then start again in the morning and arrive at WDW. We've done this trip by car multiple times and at different times of the year and the travel/stop times always seems to stay right about the same.

114 days till we leave for our 30th Anniversary 4-day Wonder cruise and 4 days at PO-R.

It takes us 16 hours from western central NJ(blushing does that mean we speed?) So if it takes us 5- hours to get to Richmond(my brother lives there) I would say 11-12 is right. If you drive like we do ;) Honestly we do go speed limit +5 maybe. So much of the trip is now 65 mph that it so easy to get there.
And Ducklite I hope I am not driving behind you going 50mph :moped: :rotfl2:

Sounds about right. We did that from the Eastern Shore of Maryland once, but I won't tell you how fast we drove!!

We drive from Albany, NY to WDW and it takes us 18-19 hrs  We only drive 5-10 miles above the speed limit. Boy, 12 hours from Richmond VA to South Carolina seems like an awfully long time to me.:confused3 :rotfl: :rotfl:

Driving from the Jersey Shore (overnight with stops only for gas and breakfast) we usually leave at about 6 pm and hit Richmond by about 11pm-midnite. Then we are usually in our hotel lobby at WDW by noon so 12 hrs sounds right to me. I think mapquest says it sould take us around 21 hours but it's usually 17-18.

We live near Richmond. 12 hours is right if there are no traffic delays, and you're not traveling with little kids. We're DVC members so we stop in Hilton Head, which takes 7-8 hrs, stay at DVC there, then drive 5-6 hrs to Orlando. It's not a bad drive at all.

We normally do 5 or so miles over the posted speed limit, never slower than the middle lane of traffic on a three lane road. Please remember that where we are coming from we're dealing with Philly, Baltimore, and DC traffic--and that can add a couple hours anyhow onto the trip if you don't catch it just right. We refuse to drive 85 mph like some people do, it's just not worth the risk to get to WDW an hour faster...

Stafford to WDW ~ left at 12:30 am; drove straight, just stopping for gas and a quick stop for breakfast at McD's. Got to AKL right right at noon.

Anne I hope you know I was kidding. :cool1: I always said the benefit of living in the boonies is no NJ TPK! That alone can add hours to the trip. :flower:
