Seeing as we'll be there for 6 days I thought it might be nice for my wife if we take a daytrip into paris to see a few sights. However I havent the foggiest how we achieve this from staying on site at disney. So looking for some advice please.

Are there coach services? or is it a case of the train from the station?

Is it a direct train and if so how near is the station to the various sights? and how much does it cost?

thanks in advance guys

Rhys

You can take the RER train from Marne La Vallee station (the same station the Eurostar uses) which takes about 45 minutes.

This link will give you a map of the RER and Metro lines. If you look on the far right hand side of the map, you'll see Marne La Vallee at the end of the red line.

Can't rem how much a travelcard cost when I went into Paris. Maybe someone else can help with that.

I've bumped my thread in which some useful answers were posted

Im Looking into buying a Mobilis ticket to cover all your required train journeys and the batobus for a river taxis service stopping at most sites to make it a nicer journey

Hope this helps

When we were at Disney in July/August we booked the Cityrama coach tour at our hotel. Pick up is at the Hotel New York at 9:45am (you need to be there for 9:15 at the front of the hotel) and you get back there around 6pm - 6:30pm depending on traffic, we were back for 6pm on a Sunday evening. We really enjoyed it, think it was around 60 euros each which included a ticket for the first floor of the Eiffel Tower and an fabulous hour boat trip on the River Seine.
We stopped at the Eiffel Tower for 90 minutes and the Lourve for 60 minutes - just enough time to have a walk around the gardens etc.,
I would thoroughly recommend it for a first time glimpse of the city - we learnt an awful lot about the history of the buildings via the headphones, next time we go I'll be brave and do the train!

im tempted by the mobilis ticket if its just 12.40 euros each. is that return also? and which station do you get off at within paris?

the coach tours tempting as its all organised then and I dont have to find a map and work out where the heck everything is. do they have a website?

oh and thanks so much for your help :)

Yes the mobilis is like a London travelcard - it covers RER, metro and bus all day. I couldn't have told you the exact price but we paid about 30 Euros for 2 adults and a child from Bussy into Paris.

and which station do you get off at within paris?

It depends where you want to go! What do you plan to see in Paris?

havent the foggiest but that boat tour seems the best bet then we can hop off at various stops if we want

Chatelet les Halles would be a good bet then, it's right near Notre Dame and there's a Batobus stop just there.

I'm just trying to find some info I posted on a previous thread in case it helps (save me typing it again!)

Actually I think there might be a stop near Gare de Lyon as well, which is a stop earlier on the RER.

thanks minnie you're a star :) DW will be most happy :)

Here you go ...

Yes - very easy. It takes about half an hour on the RER which you can get easily from Marne-la-Vallee. A 'mobilis' ticket is similar to a travelcard in London and gets you access to RER, metro and buses all day - it cost us about 11 Euros each but that was from Bussy (2 stops along) so it might be a little more from M-L-V.

If you have children, they're better off getting a Paris Visite ticket instead of a mobilis as there's no child reduction on the mobilis whereas there is on the PV. The PV ticket offers the same travel options plus also I think some discounted entrances to museums etc - I don't know any more than that as we only wanted the travel. They're more expensive for adults than the mobilis tickets but cheaper for kids as they do a child price.

Also in case it's any help, we did this last Wednesday (my husband and daughter's first visits to Paris so just to see the main sights really) ...

RER to Charles de Gaulle Etoile (takes about 45 minutes as it's right over the other side of Paris).

Got off at C-D-G Etoile to see Arc de Triomphe

Walked Champs-Elysees as daughter wanted to go to the Disney Store!

Walked Ave. Franklin D Roosevelt towards the river

Lunch in cafe by the river

Walked to Eiffel Tower and went up to second floor

Played in fountains at the Trocadero! (it ws VERY hot)

Got boat to Notre Dame - this wasn't the most cost-effective thing to do as it turned out you have to buy a day pass for the 'batobus' (water taxi) but we'd promised my daughter a boat trip and I don't really do boats - certainly not long enough to do a whole round trip! It would have been a lot cheaper to hop on a bus or the metro!

Had a look round Notre Dame

Walked to Hotel-de-Ville

Took metro to Nation then changed to RER for the journey back

A couple of other things we'd thought of doing but didn't fit in were the Pompidou centre (with the funny escalators up the outside of the building) and Montmartre/Sacre Coeur - maybe next time!

I just checked the batobus site - yes you can get on near Gare de Lyon (stop would be 'Jardin des Plantes' on the batobus map)

well she just rang on her way home from work and got teary when I said we were going to paris :)

chatlet les hales it is then a nice boat trip and some lunch I think :) then perhaps home in time for a few night rides of something.

on a slightly OT note are the trains from CDG to DLP just as cheap? if so its tempting to take it instead of the bus

went searching :) about £26 for the 2 of us if I book in advance.... hrmm but only gives us 35 mins to get off the aircraft get luggage and get into the stations..... anyone whose done it have comments on that? think its possible?

I'd go for the train with the mobilis ticket and then use the batobus river taxis

You can do whatever you wnat then with no time constraints and not have to rush around then. :)

Hope you have a good trip, im doing this next week :yay: so will report back to everyone

WE did 2 day trips into Paris at Easter - I wrote quite a detailed report in my trippie (Yeeha a fistful of Euros) including info on metro stops etc

Hi there
when we were at disney last year we all (9 of us )decided to go in to paris for the day we found you could purchase your train tickets at the machine in the station but we decided to go to a kiosk and the woman gave us a better deal on the tickets than we would of got from the machine , and our tickets covered train bus and boat all day
we made our way in to paris and went to notra dam and it was really busy but due to the luck we have lol there was a prostest on that day too....but the cathedrel was beutifull to see
we then decided to get a boat down the river to get close to eifel tower but when we finally got to a boat we discoverd there are only some boat we could get on with this ticket and would cost a fortune otherwise so we decided to go and wait for a bus .
We got the bus and it was fantastic we got to see alll the streets and busy paris life and when we go again in to paris we have decided we will just get on the bus as you see so much more but each to there own
...we then arrived at the tower and and to the kids to the top it was good fun and kids loved it too,
by the time we left there we were tired and thirsty so we found a little cafe and sat outside for drinks ( uh oh ) well when the bill came we worked out that the glasses of coke we bought cost about £3.50 a glass ,since we came back we have learnt that you pay more money to sit outside than siting soo 2 guesses what we will do next time lol.
we had a fantastic day in paris though and made our way back to disney tired and hungry and got back about 11.15 so we grabed a mc donalds at disney village and made our way bed .....i would recomend it if you can fit it in to your trip we were tired but was very good.

hope that helps a little and enjoy yout trip

vicki xxxx

Hi,
First of all, thanks to everyone for all the info! I'm going to DLP in October and I would like to do a day trip into Paris too so all the prior posts have been very helpful!

Dianetigger, if you take the Cityrama bus trip, do they give you time to go into Notre Dame Cathedral? I have been asked to pick up a candle or rosary for a friend but wasn't sure if there would be time to do any shopping on that tour. And of course, I would love to go inside the cathedral too.

Some of you have mentioned hopping on a bus to go to different places; is it difficult to figure out what bus to take? I've been on the Metro in Paris before (years ago) and I think I can handle that, but I just wasn't sure about the buses.

Thanks for any help you can give me!
