The last time we were at Cindy's for lunch my DD3 was a little star struck when we stepped up to meet her. princess: To put her at ease I pointed out the mice watching over us. I said look, there's Jaques and I couldn't think of the other one's name, so I turned to Cinderella and asked what's the other one's name? I immediately worried that she wouldn't know it. She of course had done her homework and came up with Gus really quickly. Has anyone ever asked a question about a movie or a character that they couldn't answer (either on accident or on purpose). I wonder if there is a quiz they have to take before they suit up.

That would be interesting to hear. I'm sure it has happened - these are regular people, after all - but I'm betting that "friends of characters" have to do some serious homework before being allowed to interact with guests.

You know, I just thought about this...and I can't recall a SINGLE incident in all my trips when a character wasn't right on point. They must have an extensive quiz before greeting guests. In fact, when we were at DLR last March, there was a young woman (not in costume) hanging out with Snow White. This girl LOOKED exactly like Snow White...even without the costume. DH made the comment (apparently a little too loud) that she must be training. And immediately, she said (in a perfect Snow White voice) "oh no, there is only one Snow White". So even they stay in character...even when they are not.

When my neice was 6, first trip to Disney and way into the characters- she happened upon the Fairy Godmother from Cinderella. They chatted, all the while bro is videotaping, my neice says 'how about we sing your song?' Well, they most certainly did- the bibbidy bobbity, menchacaboolah, blah, blah- I thought that was very cool and too cute!

We had an incident where we went to breakfast one day and met one of the princesses (sorry, I can't remember which one). Anyway, the next afternoon we ran into another princess (again, can't remember which one), and my DD looked at me and said "Hey, that's ___________ from breakfast yesterday!" Of course, being 10 at the time, it wasn't a complete bust, but when we got to the head of the line to take a picture and get our autograph, my DD says to said princess, in a low whisper, "Weren't you so and so yesterday at my breakfast?!" Princess gets very flustered but very quietly whispers that she was! My DD got the biggest kick out of that!

Also when DD was 3 we collected autographs and mistakenly collected Cinderalla 3 times. Needless to say, it wasn't the same Cinderella and as much as they try, the three signatures were obviously different. Don't ya know my little CSI investigator notices immediately! Sometimes kids are just too smart (or observant) for their own good! :rotfl:

My sister and family were dining at the castle with Cinderella. When it was her daughters turn to take a pic, Cinderella noticed they also had a 4 month old baby boy, and was quite taken with him. She said" Oh, he looks just like our baby!" :scared1:

Later, my 6 yr old niece says, "Mom, I didn't know Cinderella had a baby", to which sis replied, "oh she was probably talking about a baby that lived at Castle, one of the hired help's, sons" :rotfl:

We had an Ariel, who was just AWFUL! She didn't look like her at all in the face...she wasn't the least bit attractive, and her voice sounded terrible...even the girls didn't want to go and see her...then Ariel must have picked up on it, and said..I sound funny don't I?, I'm a little Sea-hoarse...
yeah real funny...scar my kid for life, because they can't find a real Ariel...:lmao: she sounded a little like George Burns...

In 2006, I took my DD (5 at the time) to Cinderella's dinner at 1900 Park Fare. She had a hole in her stocking and had asked Suzy and Perla if they had their needles so they could fix it. They did not understand at all and just stood there. :confused3 I know they don't talk, but they did not do anything at all. My DD kept asking. Finally I told her they can't carry their needles to dinner. And she was fine with that. Thank Goodness.

Wow!! This story really surprises me. Character integrity is paramount with Disney. There is 1 and only one Mickey MOuse, Minnie, Ariel, etc. I'm not doubting it happened, but if the handler or another CM had heard, I'm sure there would've been a long talk backstage. You don't do or say anything to a guest that would imply the characters you meet aren't who they say they are, and it doesn't matter how old that guest is.

Well doesn't the story say they lived happily ever after?

A little different story, we were at Chef Mickey's one time when Minnie's suit came undone (buttoned/sanpped/buckled?) She ran into the kitchen with her lower half lower than it should have been. Thank goodness DS was only 2 and didn't have a clue.

My sister works with several people who have been characters at a couple different parks. I had her ask and yes, there is an actual test they have to take before they can become a character. They also have to know all the songs in their particular movie. Just a little info FYI.

I almost forgot. We did see Timon almost come unglued..LOL. His tummy must have a big velcro peice, and it was coming undone, so the handler/ person, went up to him and pretended to hug him while telling him what had happened. It took quite a few minutes for them to get the situation fixed, and my daughter was getting a kick out of the lady hugging him for so long..she said...Boy Mommy, she must REALLY like him..:rotfl:

I have never heard a character goof up while talking.

We did have one Jasmine who I thought was AMAZING! We had seen her early at the PSB breakfast. Hours later we saw her in Morocco. She not only greeted my daughter by name but she also asked her why she had changed her clothes! My daughter had in fact changed her clothes. She wore a Snow White dress to the breakfast and then changed into shorts and a t-shirt. WOW she was good!

The Fairy Godmother that used to be downstairs at CRT was also VERY good. My GD had had her picture taken with her that morning at CRT. Later during the parade she noticed us waving at the floats, she waved and called out, "Princess Aubriee did you enjoy your breakfast with Cinderella this morning?". Due to the microphones or whatever they use, it was said rather loudly. The two little girls standing next to us were so excited and asked my GD how the Fairy Godmother knew her. My GD informed them "she's the Fairy Godmother she knows everyone." I couldn't believe she was able to pick us out of the crowd, like she did and even remembered my GD's name.
