Tripod in parks?

Hi Friends!

I want to bring my tripod along, because I'd like to take some really great night shots on our upcoming trip....I have one that collapses relatively small (about 4 inches diameter, maybe 12-18 inches long?), I was just wondering for those of you who have done this, what is the easiest way? Do they give you any trouble at the bag check and such? We usually carry a backpack with water bottles, so I imagine I'd just stow it there. I guess I am just a little worried about how cumbersome it would be....I guess the easiest thing might be not to bring it except for the times we don't head to the parks until the evening?

There should be no issue from Disney staff about bringing a tripod to the parks. Its done all the time. As far as how and when to bring it, is a personal issue. You will find some that only bring it on nights they plan to use it, others (like myself) have it attached to our backpack and others will bring it and store it in a locker at the front of the park(s). My travel tripod fits perfectly in my water bottle holder of my backpack and I secure it with an extra strap. I have carried it all over WDW (and everywhere else including through security at several airports) with no issues. It weighs less than 3 lbs., which is less than one of my lenses. My choice is to carry it all times, because I never know when I may want to use it. For example, I have used it to take a group photo with me in the photo using a remote control. Again, it is your style and choice as to whether how you want to carry a tripod.
