tripod at AKL

Headed to WDW tomorrow Looking for some last minute advice. We are staying at AKL in a savannah view room. I have a PENTAX ist DL, 18-125mm, 70-300mm and 50mm and a tripod. Can you advise me on the best set up for day time and night time photos? Any other tips for savannah photos? Thanks!

Depending on your style, you might be able to leave the 70-300mm behind everywhere but AK. That park is about the only time I go past 55mm. FWIW, I have all of my lenses with me all the time though. One or two lenses in a backpack does not make much of a difference. For night and low light shots, use the 50mm for moving subjects and the 18-125mm with a tripod for static subjects.

I'm glad you mentioned that. I did lug that big lens the entire trip last time and used it only at AK just like you mentioned.

Would anyone know if any of the lockers at the parks are big enough for a Tripod...we were thinking we'll mainly be using it at night and not so much through the day, so we wanted to store it. Any ideas...

Not sure about the lockers, but I believe that there are some large ones. Will you have a stroller?

From what I have read online:

Disney's Animal Kingdom
Inside near Guest Relations - Expedition Storage Lockers
Small - 11"h x 9"w x 16" deep
Large - 17"h x 9"w x 16" deep

Outside near the Kennel (rent inside the Kennel)
Small - 11"h x 9"w x 16" deep
Large - 17"h x 9"w x 16" deep
Extra-large - 17"h x 12"w x 16" deep


The small lockers will hold a 21" tripod diagonally.
