Arrived at Aulani today in a beautiful 2 bedroom ocean view villa. Loved everything. We went to get in bed and discovered that there were three top sheets on the bed but NO actual blanket whatsoever. Called the front desk thinking it was a mistake. They connected me to housekeeping who explained that the sheet with the diamond pattern between the stripe pattern sheets WAS the blanket. I assure you it is a SHEET, maybe a slightly heavier sheet but it is not a blanket. They gladly sent up actual blankets for all the beds, but come on, NO blankets standard on the beds??? I was a huge fan of ditching the gross bedspreads but not in lieu of any type of blanket altogether! It seems ridiculous that I had to request standard blankets. Most places I stay have a sheeting system that includes some type of duvet or blanket, like BLT when I last stayed there in oct.

Switching to sheets is a cost saver for the resort and to be honest the blankets where probably never cleaned as much as they should have been.

We keep small down comforters in our owners locker. Gotta love that locker!!!

How was the temperature and humidity?

Did you really need a blanket?

We keep the a/c on so definitely needed a blanket. I think providing sheets only is ridiculous! I suppose I will be requesting blankets from now on on all my DVC visits. Did BLT keep their duvets?

I hated those nasty, lumpy things at BLT. Making the bed in the morning was nearly impossible because the duvet wasn't tied at the corners into the cover like it should have been. The other DVC villas have a blanket between the top sheet and the white patterned cover.

I am glad that when you called housekeeping that you got the blankets you wanted.
However, to say that you needed thicker blankets because you keep the A/C to low, imho, is ridiculous.
I am going to Aulani in Feb and am glad to hear I am not going to have to strip the beds of all the big heavy unnecessary bedding.

i feel your pain.
i think all disney hotels have gone to this bedding now and i hate it!
at WDW last december i froze my butt off at night.
i had sweatpants on over my pj pants and a hoodie on over my pj top and was still freezing.

when i went last month i made dure to bring a blanket of my own which was easy since we road tripped it.
i also asked housekeeping for an extra "middle sheet" cuz it was the most "blanket" like and yet they gave me the thinnest sheet.
i wore a hoodie and used the blanket i brought on the bottom half of me plus the sheets and the extra sheet. iwas not as cold but still was kinda cold.

I think alot of people sleep this way . . . me included. :confused3 Right or wrong, I like to sleep cool and I want a light blanket over me . . . not just a basic sheet. I don't think that makes me ridiculous.

Thank you for contacting housekeeping and telling us about the different patterns. Seems most hotels have gone this way of triple sheeting...in Alabama we still had a blanket in between. Do have to agree about the cleanliness (lack of) of the blankets--between the sheets may protect them, but I don't think that's much.

So, should Disney be providing lots of bedding that many of us just removed and threw on the floor or wherever we could find a spot for it or should they just provide blankets in the closets or when someone calls? Yes, I slanted that a bit but it's really just a difference in perspective and we'll each probably want done what works for us.

For me - I'm happy the heavy bedding is gone. Absolutely hated it. And at Aulani was very comfortable with the bedding.

We are another family who called for blankets for all our beds! This was at BWV in Nov. The triple sheeting was not enough to keep warm. Called houskeeping and they very nicely brought up blankets. :) Will be calling again this November, I'm sure!
