Hello Duckies! I hope everyone is ready for the start of summer with the memorial day weekend starting real soon.....

My miles for this week of the 14th thru the 21st, 7.5 miles running, in 75 minutes. This was on my too short trip to DW, did some morning running around the lake and canal of BW. And for biking, it is 105 miles in 7.5 hours.

Has anyone done the ToT runs? I am thinking of signing up for it. Also thinking of the EE Challange in Sept, but don't think I can get too many trips in.

Sam, have a great trip to Peru. And everyone have a great weekend!

Augie

Just reporting in for the week of May 15-21 - a big fat 0 for me. (Yeah I am feeling big fat right now too!! LOL)

I should be getting out tomorrow and do at least 1 mile since my niece wants to enter a 1 mile race on Memorial Day. So she is going to want to get out tomorrow and see what she can do. My sister bought my niece her first running outfit - its so cute. She is SO excited about the race even though her ankle is a little sore from gymnastics (she is a competive gymnast) I told her she might want to not do the race and she will hear nothing of it. I told her we will see what it feels like tomorrow since that is the last day for pre-registration.

Good Morning everyone,

SamSam have a fantastic time.

ahoff welcome back. Glad you had a good time.

My stats for May 15-21
miles 10.10
time 152 minutes

Nothing going on here. Just trying to keep on track with my training and gearing up for another busy summer of baseball. The boys just left to go to their dad's for the weekend so I'm looking forward to a quiet bicker free weekend! I'll miss them won't miss the bickering though. Can't wait for them to outgrow it!!!!

Have a great weekend!

OK, it's official, I just registered for the ToT 13K in October. Which will be a nice prelude to the half!

Hey Triple D's!!! Looks like everyone is doing wonderful here!! People going on trips, signing up for the TOT and doing a lot of training. That's just awesome! I have gotten so much motivation from all of you, that it is incredible. My days are getting better. My workouts are getting more intense. It's all very exciting for me.

I have been able to focus more on my weight training recently, which is a good thing. I am really trying to add a little more size without taking away from the "lean look" that I have been working on for the last several years. Pretty excited about some of the gains that I have been able to make and then......bam! I have tendonitis in my forearm and bicep in my right arm. Doctor told me to lay off the arm exercises for a little while and keep icing it. I told him I would try but couldn't promise. The good news is that this week was a lot better than last week. Here are my totals Betsy!

Miles - 85
Hours - 11.25

Didn't break the 100 mile barrier again this week but I am getting closer to it than I have been. I am thinking the next post will be over that. I am resolved to make sure of that.

Keep up the tremendous efforts, motivation and encouragement. The Triple D's are doing incredible and I am honored to be a part of the team!!!!

Have a great weekend and Memorial Day if I don't talk back here before hand!!

Hello Ducks! I just wanted to mention this contest being run by Cabot Cheese, a virtual trip from VT to Vegas. Here is the link: http://www.cabotcheese.coop/vermont-to-las-vegas/ You log in and total your time, maybe win a trip to Vegas. The only catch is you have to be over 50, so I do not know if any of you qualify. I know I do:). It ties right in with the reporting of the mileage we do here.

The cheese is pretty good also!

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday AND Tuesday Mixer :stitch:

Stop on by the 'Ohana team thread, where the mixer starts here!

I know this weekend is a vacation weekend for many of us, so we'll be running the mixer tomorrow (Monday) and Tuesday. This mixer question is a ringer, folks, but hopefully still fun:

What did you do for Memorial Day/Weekend?

Provide us with plenty of details & hopefully photos of your activities, gatherings, celebrations and how you observe the day (and spirit) of Memorial Day. :thumbsup2

I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day today! Let's use it to spend time with family, friends and loved ones. But let's not forget those that have went before us and gave of the ultimate sacrifice so we may have the freedoms that we share today. Thank you for all of your service!!!

Bryan

Hi, Team!!!

Sorry I've been deliquent...the spreadsheet is updated through those who have posted for the week ending 5/21.

I raced today, so was a little distracted by that. Looking forward to counting some double miles next week, since I was a jet-lagged slacker for the week of May 14-21:

swim 2.4 miles/2:00
bike 19.0 miles/ 1:10
run 5.2 miles/ 1:10

total 26.6 miles/ 4:20

the next reporting "week" is May 22-May 31. Get moving and let's count some miles and fitness time! We are going to be just under 10,000 miles for the year so far by the end of May. That is AMAZING!!!!

Will put a race report on the tri thread and cross link it to the race page later. Still waiting on official results. No AG placing this time, but I biked well. ugh. Have a lot of work to do...esp. with a 1/2 Ironman in 3 weeks. :scared1:

Hi from Peru. :goodvibes We are at 3800 meter elevation and boy am I feeling it right now. The climb up 2 flights of steps to our room about wiped me out. :rotfl: I think by morning I will be more acclimated.
Yes, I just can't stand not logging on the few times possible to say hi to my Triple D teammates.;)

I did lots of walking around Lima yesterday (does that count? :rotfl:
Today after a flight from Lima to Cusco to Juliaca, and then a bus ride to Puna at Lake Titcaca, I am struck by just how much we Americans have compared to many peoples. It's very humbling, and in a way, almost embarrassing.

Augie, Dh and I are doing the EE, it would be great if you could fit it in.

Everyone, thanks for the good wishes. I'm thinking of you.
Triple D's Rock!!!!

I would like to thank all of the service men and women that we may have in the Triple D's for what you do. Also I hope everyone had a great weekend.

My totals for last week was 13 miles at 2.45 hours. Sorry for reporting it late. I also have a question, i ride the stationary bike two times a week for about 30 - 45 minutes a time so not to long but does this count for biking or does it have to be on asphalt/trails?

Hi Triple D's. Happy Memorial Day. No running or walking for me in way too long but I did attend a running event this morning. My niece wanted to do a 1 mile race this morning. She was so excited to get to do her first race. So we got up early and drove to the race. We got her registered and then walked over to see the 5k finishers. I have never been on that side of the race since I am always racing and never see the first runners finish. After 36 minutes and before 45 minutes there was a lady who was coming to the finish line and she went off course - I didn't see her until she was already off into the grass. Someone was helping her back onto the asphalt and she couldn't move her legs. She was just yards from the finish line. Someone else came along the other side of her and tried to help her to move. She took a few steps but you could tell it was a struggle. A fire rescue guy came up to help. At this point some lady who had already finished the 5k was saying "is it really THAT important that she finishes" I already had tears in my eyes because of what was happening and I didn't end up saying anything the the other lady who in my opinion just didn't get it. We were cheering so loudly for her as she crossed the finish line. Sadly though she need the ambulance to come for her. I don't know what happened to her from there since we had to walk over to the start of the youth 1 mile. I really hope she is ok and not in too much pain tonight.

So we all walked over to where the 1 male race was starting. My neice's friend also wanted to run the race so her and her mom came. A PE teacher was "in charge" of the 1 mile race and had the kids take a "warm up" lap and then had them do a few exercises with a few kids coming up front and doing different exercises or stretches they thought were good. It was really cute and good for them. He told the bigger kids (top age was 14 - my niece is 12) and the ones with 7 minute miles to get to the front so the little kids don't get trampled. The did the gun start and it was chip timed and everything - my niece found the chips so fascinating - she tagged it on her pictures we posted on Facebook as "the micro chip thingy" At first my niece did not want her friend to come to the race and was reluctant to tell her where the race was. Her friend has been timed running at school and my niece never has been timed so I think my niece was scared her friend would beat her. Well the only advice I gave her before the race was to run her best, it was ok if she had to walk, remember to breathe and don't look back. I had also told her early to not worry about if she placed or came in 4th or lower whatever she did would be awesome. Well at the finish line we see the first kid coming to the finish at just over 6 minutes. We see my niece coming and she is in front of her friend (ok so I am just a little happy about this!!) she has it in high gear and she finishes with a time of 8:26 :woohoo: She is at the end of the chute bent over (I forgot to meet her on the other side of the chute) so I go running over there and get her some water and get the chip off her ankle. She says she has a pain in her side. I tell her to breathe through her nose when she can. She says she feels like she has to throw up (so she is more like her Aunt Tricia every day - at least she got me beat - she thankfully didn't throw up) She pours the water over her head and she feels a little better and goes to watch the rest of the finishers in the 1 mile. I see the timer guy bringing the time sheets to the picnic table so I go over there to see how she did. She was 2nd in her age group and ended up 14th overall out of 53 kids. I am so PROUD of her :cool1: so we had to stay for awards - something I never did before since I have never been anywhere near getting an award (guess she isn't that much like me after all) I told her that her daddy would have been so proud of her and she said she told herself as she was coming to the finish line that she was doing it for daddy. She is now ready to do a 5k (even though she keeps saying she is ready to do a marathon - then she just laughs) I kind of enjoy having a little running buddy - now I just need to get back out there and actually run. LOL

Hello there Triple D's!!!! Sorry for being so quiet for so long. I am hoping that things are in the process to change that for the better. It has been a very stressful month around the house but all things will come to closure at some point. (I do want to thank everyone for all of the thoughts and prayers during this time. It has been felt and appreciated.)

AUDisneydad Any kind of exercise is something that you can record. Biking, exercise bike, elliptical, treadmill, jogging, swimming, anything in this realm where you are doing something that promotes health and fitness is something you can count both time and distances. If you go to a gym or do any form of weight training, yoga, pilates, wii fit, or anything else in this area, you can count the time. So please, make sure that you count the this also. (Don't forget. If you do a race, you count double miles but not double time.)

Otherwise, I was going to remind everyone that Sunday is the last day of the month. Let's try to get those totals into Betsy as soon as we can. We are just about to 10,000 already. That is fantastic!!! Let's see if we can bust that number by the end of the month. I know I am trying to increase my totals more than what I have been doing for the last couple of weeks.

So May is over and June is starting. Does anyone have any clever titles for the June thread? I am taking suggestions. Also, if anyone has any movie quotes to post, we are way overdo for one. Seems like we got away from this because we all got busy and haven't got back to it.

Hope everyone is having a great week and I look forward to seeing how we are all doing at the end of the month.
Sharon, I hope you are having an awesome trip. Be safe and have fun!!

Thanks everyone!

Hello from Stratford, Ontario, where I'm on a working vacation seeing some live theater. It's a great place to be, and I highly recommend a trip here. :thumbsup2

But that's not the reason I'm posting on the thread. I'm here to let you know you have a new team member, Dave (Running Mouse). Dave's a GOOFY guy, in for his 5th, and a DVC member, so I think he'll find a good home here with the DDDs. I know you'll make him feel welcomed and put him to good use. :rotfl2:

Have a great day everyone. I'm looking forward to catching up with all your news soon: running/walking races and tris, trips to Peru, and other life changes.

Just want to report that I have gotten no miles in but I got good reason. My niece Summer is here safe and sound. She is SO adorable. I spent the night with my sister and the baby in hospital last night. Didn't get much sleep - not due to the baby but more due to the nurses coming in. Summer Erika Teaghan arrived yesterday afternoon at 1:16 and she was 5 lbs 16 oz (which is exactly what my neice weighed when she was born 12 years ago.)

When I get a chance I will post pics - they are on my Facebook but I can't get to it right now.

My totals are listed below for the last two weeks.

May 15 - 21: 13 miles at 2.45 hours

May 22 - 31: 9.5 miles @ 1.75 hours

Bryan, thanks for the information.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Hello 3D's! I hope everyone as had a good weekend. I wish it had been a bit warmer, but in a month from now I will be saying the opposite! Tricia, congrats on your niece!

My final tally for the last week of May is 8 hours, 50 minutes, and 104 miles (97 on the bike, 2 miles running, and 5 miles hiking).

Hope everyone has a great week!

Augie

I know you're all ea-GEAR to share your knowledge about your favorite clothing, training aids and technical toys, so this week's prompt posted here on the 'Ohana thread is:

Beyond the basics, what's your favorite/most-useful/most loved gear?

Of course, feel free to talk about your favorite shoes, socks, tech shirts or sports bras or other necessities. But I think we'd all like to know about that special something(s) that you've added to your "must have" for training, racing days, or just plain pleasure. For some of you, maybe it's your Garmin. Other, a special brand of sunscreen or a specific brand of water belt? Still others, a strategy for taping your legs and feet or a a favorite tracking website?

Please share your special finds with the rest of us. :thumbsup2
