The greatest work meeting I have ever had revolved around profanity.

The head of software development got in trouble for using profanity and had an all hands meeting for everyone that ultimately was under him. He spent an hour apologizing for using bad words and offending people.

It was an epic powerpoint deck.

He made sure to include a few slides highlighting studies that show that use of profanity is tied to higher verbal fluency and intelligence.

It was the greatest meeting as he made sure to go through each word he had used and explained why it was not meant to be offensive to the person who had complained.

If I were manager… and it goes to that level…. Bye bye job!

It seems to me that swear words, at least in the English language, tend to be short words with one vowel and an explosive sound at the end such as “t” or “k” and that people tend to exaggerate the ending sound as if throwing the word at someone.

Tom,

Tom,
Context matters, as does the conversation as a whole. Take the 'S' word. "We sat around, shootin' the 'breeze', had a few beers" is much different than perhaps an exclamation "Well 'dang!'" or if it's directed at someone "You little 'dog'". Same with the 'bomb' word. Plus the 'bomb' word can have 'in' or 'ing' at the end (which are more used), but while the other can have 'ing' thats' most used as an exclamation "You've gotta be 'ing' me!!".
