Day 4 (April 24, 2002)- AK and Boarwalk

There sure was a lot of teenagers there this week, wasn't there? There was a huge blow-up with one I witnessed at AK. Was I ever that young and obnoxious? Nah....couldn't be.

We all arrived at AK at about 9:30. We found no wait on Dinosaur so we rode it. We moved onto the rapids. No wait so we rode that. We also went straight into Tough to Be bug. Then just as promised,.3 of them left to go shopping again. The one sister did stay with us though this time. We got FP’s for the Safari (huge wait). We did the Jungle Trek and then had time before our PS at Rainforest so I decided to stroll through Camp Minnie-Mickey. Apparently since there was nothing that DH and sister found attractive here, I got a tongue-lashing for making them tour this place. Then I read the map wrong and sent them on a wild goose chase to find Rainforest Café. I wasn’t scoring any points.

Rainforest was neat to go to once but we will probably not be back. It was expensive for the quality of service and food. The atmosphere was interesting. We had to hurry to make the FP for Safari. We did that. Again…..it was nice to do once. We missed some of the things here, but it was definitely time to leave. I wasn’t too broken up about it. I didn’t feel a whole lot of magic at AK (maybe I spent too much time at the wrong attractions). We went back to the hotel and NAPPED!!!!

We napped pretty late. We were just going to stay in and pack tonight but I talked my DH into going out for a quick bite to eat. We ended up at the Boardwalk!! It was great. We just got pizza and drinks at Spoodles, but then we got French Fries, then we got a crepe with ice cream. I loved walking around and sipping wine and eating and talking. It was nice. My DD was supposed to leave tomorrow morning to ride back with the in-laws while my DH and I stayed until Sat., but we called mother in law at the hotel and told her that we couldn’t bear to let her go. She was staying. YEAH!!

Another good day. I'm glad your dd gets to stay. :)

It sounds like you had alot of fun! Where did you buy the wine at the boardwalk that you walked around with we will be staying at the Swan in July and that sounds right up my husbands alley. The Poly is a great monorail resort we stayed there a few years ago and loved it. You can also walk to the TTC from the grounds so you can get anywhere anytime. It feels like a vacation within a vacation.

You can get drinks from the take-out counter at Spoodles. It did make a very nice evening just strolling the boardwalk with a drink. Thanks for the Poly tip. I am torn between the Poly and the GF. I've been hearing many great things about the Poly.

We never stayed at the GF but I can't say enough about the Poly. The luau is neat the, Konas is great, and Ohana's is good morning and nite. I think that the pool is neater then the GF. I guess alot of the "feel" comes from the fact that you stay in small houses and not just one big building. This year we are trying the Swan and then AKL I hope that we like them. Thanks for letting us know about Spoodles I think DH will love to do that.

Sorry to bother you. One more thing. Did your DH like the Poly as much? I am convinced that I will love both places. I'm pretty easy to please. I'm trying to find the one that he will like most. THANKS SO MUCH!!!

He really liked it. He had stayed there when he was small too. We had been to Kaui about a year and a half before the Poly and my 5 year old loved eveything about it the main house, the luau, the water mice. My 1 1/2 year old loved the ducks and the bunnies. She would cry when we had to leave to go to the parks. ( because she could always find this one tiny binnie that she did not want to leave) My kids are now 7and 4 and they want to stay at AKL. I know we will like it I just hope we don't miss the Poly too much. We ate at all the places at the Poly and they were all good.
