Planning a weekend trip to the Kalahari Resort, the room is a gift from MIL  She's the best.
But now I would like to know what else to expect $$$ wise.
The waterpark tickets are included but I know DH and DS will want to do the zip line and rock wall, Will DD and I be able to walk around that area with them and watch them if we are not doing anything or do you have to pay to get in the area?
Also the Animal park we will all do, anyone know how much that is I can't find the price on the website.
I also watched the you tube video and saw families getting pictures with baby tigers? I think thats what they were! lol
Any idea on the prices of that???
Any prices or thing you can't miss with a 5 and 2 year old please let me know!!!!
TIA

Found this on there site....

A hint.....bring your own beverages, there is a refrigerator in your room. Wondered why everyone was bringing in coolers to there rooms. After buying some drinks for family I understood completely, expensive. Also don't wear yourself out on your arrival day in the waterpark, in the morning before regular and new check-in, the waterpark is open to guest only. We did everything in a couple hours vs the 5 or more hours it took up when we arrived.

We did buy the kids with tiger picture. The booth was right by the check in area. Many were taking there own photo's too, including us. The food (carrots) to feed the animals can break you. Some animals can only get the small cut up carrots and some can only get the whole carrots. Next time I'm bring my own. :)

Also the restaurant (Kahunaville) I think the name has been changed was alot of fun for the kids, ask to sit up front. The younger kids were dancing, singing and having fun.

Take drinks and food for lunch and breakfast. It will save u a ton. That's what we did and only ate dinner out.

There is also a huge arcade there, ice cream shop and candy store. So come prepared. I think the tiger photo is close to$30. And. U can only take a pic with your own camera, if u buy one of theirs first.

Most slides have a 42 inch height requirement also.

Kalahari is loads of fun. But u almost can't say Kalahari and budget in the same sentence.

Yep, I agree. Bring your own food and drinks. Its expensive to eat and drink at the resort. We've been twice, once on my MIL :thumbsup2 and once from a TV promo that I won :cool1:. The first time we went, we just took breakfast with us and ate the buffet dinner and had pizza for lunch from the waterpark area on our second day. The buffet dinner was around $50 for the 4 of us (not including our DD who was around age 1). The pizza and pop we had for lunch was around $25.

The second time we went, just last December, we won a two night stay, dinner at Kahunaville, breakfast buffet, pizza lunch plus the animal park tickets. It was like a $700 value. My DD and I went up on a Thursday afternoon before my DH and DSS9 got off of work and school. DSS14 couldn't join us due to sports. I brought along some canned ravioli and buttered bread for DD and myself and microwavable bowl and we had that for our dinner. We ate donuts and milk in the room on our first morning and had our buffet breakfast our second morning. The buffet breakfast came to over $50 for the 4 of us. We ate at Kahunaville on Friday evening and our bill came to $50.96. That included our 4 meals plus an appetizer.

I can tell you that my kids LOVED the animal part! They still talk about it to this day. Its very interactive and the food to purchase isn't that bad. Like I said, we were there in December and it was chilly so there was no one at that little part. The lady who runs it is super nice and we paid for one thing of food and she gave food to both of my kids. They each got an apple, some feed and some peanuts. There were goats, zebras, ostrich, reindeer and little kangeroo (even babies!). The only thing that we couldn't touch were the zebra and ostrich.

Read the activities board each day for fun things to do with the kids. Its at the bottom of the stairs you go down to enter the waterpark. My kids got to frost and decorate cookies both days, make bead necklaces, and a make a sticker picture. They also have movie nights where they show a movie and thats free too. Beware that in order to play the video games, you have to purchase a card for $1 and you have to walk through the arcade to get to the waterpark. There is a giant playground that the kids can play on just to the right of where you enter the waterpark.

Have a fabulous time!

If you want to get out and eat there is just about every chain restraunt and fast food in the area. Good local pizza places are Danny Boy's and Matt and Chets if you would want to order pizza out. There is also a Wal Mart and a Meiers right there if you forget anything or would rather buy your snacks and not have to bring them from home.

We ate at Danny Boy's across the street for lunch. It was some of the best pizza we have ever eaten.
Bring food with you. We brought Breakfast and dinner stuff and snacks.
We also brought our own life jacket for our 2 year old. That made life easier for us.
Conner loved it. We didn't even venture outside to look at the animals last time. Maybe this year.

We stopped there a couple weeks ago as a surprise for our kids on our way back to Iowa from DC. We had a great time and we just did the waterpark--none of the extras. We were only there for one night, so we just didn't have time for much else. We did go to CiCi's pizza for lunch and also picked up supplies for breakfast. That worked out great, so we could have a quick breakfast and get down to the waterpark! Have a wonderful trip!
