Hi Everyone,
This is my first trip report and I hope it gives you an insight into my disneyland paris trip.
Day 1: Sept 18th.
This was our first day of the holiday.
Me: 22 Disney Trip Planner and loves disney villains WDW 5 times DLRP 1
DM: 49 Loves all things disney WDW 5 times
DD: 52 Enjoys seeing mum and I in Disney, secret disney addict.
Originally mum and I were going on this trip together without Disney Dad. However 10days before we were scheduled to leava DD decides he would now like to come!!! This caused no problems whatsoever except he had to catch a later flight out the same day as us and an earlier flight back the same day as us. Which meant me and mum had longer in disney!!
Ok here goes.
We arrived at Cardiff airport at 6:30am ready to check in for our flight, DD dropped us home and returned at lunchtime for his afternoon flight.
Flight over was smooth, however the plane was incredibly small with Propellors instead of proper wings etc. Arrived in CDG at 11:00AM french time, weather cold but dry. Luckily we had packed thick coats and jumpers, not just shorts and t shirts!
We boarded our VEA bus at 11:45 and enjoyed the trip to disney. One little thing though that I noticed, not to criticise but the driver on the VEA bus was not too friendly. He opened the bottom of the bus for our cases to be put on which was fine, however cases were heavy and he didn't offer to do that for us, I am not winging honestly, because by the time we reached sequoia lodge an hour later, I had to crawl my whole body into the underneath of the bus to claim our cases as they had moved during travel!
It was all good fun though.
After the bus journey it was about 1pm when we reached Sequoia Lodge. I was impressed immediately with the setting and how well kept the outside of the hotel looked. I told myself from the start of my holiday that I was not going to compare anything with Florida as DLRP is on a much smaller scale and it would not be the same.
Although I was very pleased with Sequoia lodge from the moment I saw it and I absolutley loved the smell from the moment I walked through the door.
When we checked in we had already booked a montana room and we were told that our room was ready and we were given all the info we needed and our room keys. During check in I also booked our breakfast slots. For Wednesday we were due to have good morning fantasy land and on Thurs and Friday breakfast in SL. I booked Thursday Breakfast for 8:15 and Friday for 8:45. Whilst checking in I also explained that Dad would be arriving later on this evening and would be collecting his room key upon his arrival, which they were fine with.
We then arrived at our room we were on the 3rd floor (non smoking). We had a view of 2 giant trees outside our window, but were facing the lake I suppose but I couldn't see the lake out of the window. The room was clean and a reasonable size, plenty of room for 3.
After dropping our cases off and unpacking we headed over to the disney village and to the Disneyland Park. I was very excited at this point because everything was so new to me. We had a quick look in the hotel shop which was very good, a little cluttered in areas, not moaning again just felt it was a bit cramped in places.
The leaves on the trees outside SL and Hotel NY were lovely and red. Once we arrived at the disneyland park I couldn't wait to get inside and see main street. DM and I both felt the disney feel once we stepped onto main street. It felt magical straight away.
We took a few photos as we wandered around. We decided initially that we would pace ourselves and not rush to do the rides on our first day, but wait for dad to arrive and do them the following day. However, within the 1st hour of being in the park we realised this could not happen and we had a ride on Snow white and pinocchio. There was no queue for either which surprised me!
I was very impressed with Fantasyland and how pretty all the buildings and shops were in that area. I found it to be better feel than the fantasyland in magic Kingdom in Florida, however I love WDW through and through.
By 5pm we decided we were getting tired and we would go back to SL and have a shower before Dad arrived. On the way back to the hotel we stopped in the hotel NY and a large group of people walk to dinner in dinner suits and ball gowns which looked lovely. I had a quick wander around the shop in HNY and then popped to the Newport Bay hotel, which I thought looked amazing on the outside but I hope I don't hurt anyones feelings, didn't quite live up to expectations on the inside. I saw bits of wall paper hanging off the wall and it generally lookeed a bit worn and torn, however on a positive note there was a strong smell of paint in the air, so I assume they are in the process of patching up the bits and bobs that need doing.
Then around 7:45 dad arrived off his VEA bus and we checked him in at the desk which took no time at all. He was looking forward to a meal in the Disney village, but DM and I were too tired to have a sit down meal, that he decided to go to the sports bar grab a beer and a pizza and watch some of the world cup which he enjoyed.
We all headed to bed about 10pm that night and slept through until our alarm woke us up at 7:30 the following Morning for GMF breakfast!
