Trip Report Day 3

Saturday dawned another hot and sunny day. :sunny:
We decided to head to the Studios today and got there just after opening and took photos with Pluto and Donald.

Then we watched the Good Morning Studios parade – only a few people were there to watch it and this made such a change for us!

We then made our way over to the Moteurs…Action! Stunt Show Spectacular. We did quite enjoy this, however I think once will be enough and I don’t think any of us will want to watch it again. Then we did Armageddon. This was good fun, although I think I was expecting it to be something more because of the big pre-show build-up. Then it was onto the Studio Tram Tour. This was excellent and I definitely want to do this again next time. Then onto Flying Carpets over Agrabah. I loved all the theming in the queueing area but do wish that on the ride they had the camels that spit at you like on the WDW version.

We took a break and had a portion of fries and a coke in Disney Studio 1.

Afterwards we watched the Lilo and Stitch Catch A Wave Party. This was excellent, especially when Pluto kept coming over and taking Francesca’s Pluto hat and wearing it himself!

Afterwards we had photos taken with Mickey outside his trailer, explored the shops and caught the bus back to our hotel to get refreshed before our evening meal which was booked at Inventions at the Disneyland Hotel for 6pm.

Wow!!! What a luxurious hotel! Quite a change from the Explorers! :rotfl2:
The Inventions buffet was superb. We were so greedy that we went up again…and again…and again!!! We were the only ones in our section for quite a long time and we couldn’t have asked for better character interaction! We were visited by Minnie, Perla, Suzy, Eeyore, Pluto, Tigger and Orville. They all made a fuss of us, pinching our food and making Francesca get up so that they could sit in her seat! :rotfl2:
Then we started on the desserts……food to die for!!! What more could one want? :cloud9: Wonderful food with equally wonderful company and a marvellous view overlooking the castle!

After we reluctantly left, promising ourselves we would definitely return here next summer, we had a look in the Cafe Fantasia at the musical wallpaper. Wow!!!

Then we just had a browse through the hotel, taking in all the lovely tapestries, puppets etc in the reception. Then it was back into the Disneyland park and onto Dumbo, a 30 minute wait :scared1: but Francesca so wanted to do it and it was worth doing it in the dark to see how lovely the park looked lit up. We took some more photos of Francesca by Cinderella’s coach as she was actually wearing her Cinderella dress and everyone then tried in vain to pull the sword from the stone!!! Fantasyland had emptied by now in readiness for Fantillusion and it felt really weird being there on our own. We had intended to make our way back to the hotel but as we reached the park exit we could see a few places at the top of the station so we went up the stairs just as Fantillusion was starting. We couldn’t see the change to evil from there but that didn’t matter because we had seen that the other night. It was nice to watch it from a higher perspective although I did prefer watching it from the Pooh seats the other time. Lots of people left after it ended so we decided to stay and watch Wishes again after all and moved to an even better position.
We couldn’t hear the music as well as we did nearer to the castle but the fireworks looked even better from a distance!

Then there was the usual mad scram for the buses. When one bus arrived it parked across the road to drop some passengers off. Loads of people rushed over and virtually stormed on. The driver then ordered them all off until he had parked properly at the bus stop and they were all running across the road in front of him, literally dragging their kids along. It’s a wonder there aren’t accidents here on a regular basis. We watched one couple and their son aged about eight who were so determined to get on a bus that even when the bus doors kept shutting on the poor boy’s face, his mother was still trying to push him on and get on behind him. :confused3
Need I say, our behaviour is a little more refined :rolleyes1 ;) and we eventually got to bed about 1pm, tired but extremely happy!!! :)

Seriously though, I am glad I did one, otherwise the days do all tend to blur into one. When we went to WDW it hadn't even occurred to me to write a trip report. Luckily however I'd bought a Passporter where you have an envelope for each day to keep souvenirs/ticket stubs etc and there is a place on these to write where you have been/eaten. I'd never remember otherwise, it all seems like a lifetime ago now! :rotfl:

Elaine
great report and photographs :)
Looks like everyone had a great time.

I remember the last bus of the evening to HI last year with equal fondness

Reid

Excellent report and photos.

Could you give me an idea of what there is to eat at the Inventions buffet? It's something I would like to do but my 2 are such fussy eaters I don't know if it would be worth the money for us to do yet.

Thanks,
Joanne

When we were there in summer buffet was seafood dishes (hot and cold), cold meat, salads, hot pasta, meat carvery. They did have fish whales, chicken dinosaurs - not that I'm fond of this but it offers a plainer option.
There is probably as many dessert options as there are main course.

Reid

Great part 3 Elaine! I know how long putting trip reports together can take, even when, like me, you make notes each day you're there! Looking forward to part 4!

Hi Joanne,

When we ate at Inventions in February there were a lot of carved roasts and side dishes to choose from and as Reid pointed out seafood [I seem to remember quite a lot of shellfish!!], pasta, salads and cold meats. :earboy2:

Our kids were particularly taken by all the fruits on offer and probably ate more fruit salad and melon than anything else! Then there were the little baskets of sweeties everywhere - but thats another story [one of ours still seemed to have some on the plane home!?].

The food was really good and there was enough choice that I think even fussy eaters would find plenty - and the character interaction like Elaine says in her report is really fantastic, such a lovely atmosphere :goodvibes .

Hi Joanne

My DD (3) is also an extremely fussy eater which is why I thought the buffet worked well as she could try things I had and if she liked it we could get some of her own. In addition depending on age they don't charge for children. We weren't charged and neither were the couple next to us who had a 4 year old and a baby/toddler about 18 months at most.

I'm not big on processed food (as Reid said they do have shaped things in breadcrumbs) but for kids they also had two types of pasta one in just a tomato based sauce and the other was veg lasagne cut into little squares. They also had pizza (which they seemed to bake freshly when they saw children appear). My DD if she wasn't so scared of the charcters would have ate the rolls / bread a little pasta , pizza and sweetcorn, some yogurts and there was a lovely selection of fresh fruit. For adults there's lots of seafood a meat carvery ,lots of salads , potatoes (mashed and roasted in garlic) and plenty cakes , tarts and flans mainly with either chantilly cream or single cream , choc mousse and loads of fresh fruit.

Hope this helps

:goodvibes Excellent report Elaine with some fantastic photos!

Inventions sounds wonderfull, I may have to book there for myself!

Whata long busy day thanks for sharing it with us .

Your buffett meal sounds great, with 3 teenagers we always get value for money at Disney buffets. This will be one we will try in the future.
