Trip Report: Just home from SSR! (4/4-4/8)

[Can't Wait!]

Well, we are sadly back at home after a great vacation at SSR!

We checked in on Saturday afternoon at 1 pm, and our room was ready, and looked great! There was no wait to check-in, and we got the Grandstand just as we requested. We were in room 8125, which was the best location that we could have asked for! We were right in the front of the building, 1st floor, which was great access for us with the stroller and all! The bus stop was directly to our right, and the pool just to the left. We had a wonderful view of the golf course as well. We ordered some baby supplies from "A Baby's Best Friend" which was waiting at bell services for us upon our arrival.

We headed to AK, and arrived just in time for the parade (which we LOVE)!!!! It was late in the day, so we headed straight to Kali River Rapids and waited about 45 minutes. Of course, DS and I got soaked, and when we baby swapped and DH went, he only got a few droplets on him! Seems to always happen that way! We headed to Kilamanjaro, and enjoyed the safari... twice! There was no wait, and ALL the animals were out! It was wonderful!

We headed to DTD, with hopes to eat at T-Rex. The wait was 90 minutes, same for Fultons and Portabello. We decided not to wait, and headed home. Our groceries had been delivered while we were out, so we baked up a pizza, and DH and DS headed off to the pool! The baby and I turned in after a long day of travel, parks, and DTD!

Next day we headed to DHS around 11am. It was pretty busy. TSM had a LOOOONG wait, so we didn't ride. All the FP were gone already. We did catch everything else, though. Gotta love Lights, Motors, Action! We called ahead to make ADRs for Prime time, which was great! We went to dinner right after Fantasmic!, and enjoyed a great meal... and great comedy! DS even got put in the corner!

Next day we were off to MK. The park had the longest lines I have ever seen! I know, Spring Break and all... but my older DS went with his school band, so we had to forge through the crowds! It was a great day either way... we did head back to the room around 5pm for dinner and some relaxation, and went back to the park around 9, when there were virtually NO lines! We hung out until about 1am, then headed back to SSR. We got some great views of BLT. Lights were on, building looks great! I can't wait to get back and stay "at home" in August!

Our last day we headed to EPCOT. OMGosh!!!! There were SO, SO many people there! Lines were outrageous! We left. Come to find out, MK was "FULL" so there was a lot of overflow to the other parks which made everything unbearable! We were only there for about 3 hours (did Figment and Nemo) and then went back to SSR to get started on our packing. We also took some time to tour the BLT and AKV rooms, and check out the THV model they have. EM hours were that night, so we relaxed at SSR and headed back later. We were able to enjoy Mission Space, Test Track, Spaceship Earth, and a few other things with no wait that evening. Soarin' still had an 80 min wait, so we passed this trip.

The next morning, we got all our stuff together and sadly left SSR. We headed to DTD, and were able to get into T-Rex with no wait. Did a little shopping and then had to head out. We had a wonderful time. I wish we had another week, but we didn't have the time.

All in all, WONDERFUL trip! Loved SSR, bought great DVC merchandise, and enjoyed a relaxing time at Disney! Can't wait to head back in August, and stay at BLT!

Thanks for the report!!! It helps pass the time until our trip in August! Of course, it makes me want it to be there, like, YESTERDAY!!!!

I am glad you enjoyed SSR. We are staying there on our first trip for two weeks and your report makes me even more excited. I can't wait to see your pics.

How did you like Trex? We have an ADR there for our trip and would love your opinion on it.

Thanks for your report - DH and I were just there in March for four nights and really had a nice time - didn't really do parks, I just popped in a couple of times for some Flower and Garden photos at Epcot and a quick ride on Everest at AK. We just enjoyed our water view at the Springs, some strolling around DTD, and some mini putting at Fantasia Gardens.
We'll be back in August too - at OKW - seems so far away! Thank goodness for the DIS to keep my days full of Disney until I get back!

Sounds like a great trip! That Grandstand building is very nice, we've stayed in that one a couple times.

Happy you had a nice vacation! What did you think of T-Rex? I was there in January and thought it was good..not great. The atmosphere was fun but I think it might just be me because I always have a hard time finding something I really want at Rainforest too and seeing they are owned by the same people It was fun though and I am sure we will go again.
