Trip Report - HHI and OKW

Returned Sunday from a very enjoyable two resort vacation.... We first traveled to HHI for our first visit. By the time we arrived at the resort it was already dark, so we didn't get a chance to look around. At check-in we were offered Bldg 16 or 13.... We chose 16 since it looked much closer to the pool area. I didn't realize how compact the resort was so if I had to do it again I would have chose 13 for the view even though it was further away from the pool. The pool area was a bit smaller than I imagined but it was fine and not over crowded. We are a family of 4, DD 4, DS 2 and my wife and I. We did the Kayak tour and really enjoyed it.... Even my 2 yo enjoyed it... Very convenient the tour is at the resort, something I didn't know. I always got the impression everything was outside of the resort so I was pleasantly surprised when the tour began there. The Beach House is awesome! It never seemed too crowded and it had all that you need when you are at the beach. It was really easy to get to from the resort using the bike trails... I thought the bikes were easier than driving. Also, the bikes are fun to ride along the beach! I went sailing each day we were there, you can rent an Aqua Cat from the Life Guards.... you can't charge back to the room, so you will need to bring cash. Its $35 for the first hour and $25 hours thereafter.... You have to put a deposit down for at least 2 hours ($60). Didn't eat out much.... so can't say much about the restaurants. We did grab a few things at the resort and thought the prices were good. In fact, I thought the prices on the Island weren't too bad considering, except for the aviation fuel at the airport.... $7.50 a gallon! Yikes! All in all, a great time at HHI.

After 4 nights at HHI we flew down to WDW - OKW. The flight was beautiful! Plenty to look at and as you get down to Florida the water plenty of beaches and blue water. The flight only took about 1:45, so it was an easy. Landed at Kissimmee, and traveled over to OKW. Checked in and room was ready (1:30PM). We were in Bldg 46 near South Point. the bus stop isn't too close but it works well for us. We really liked the 1 bdrm we were assigned, as it was freshly renovated and very clean! The patio was great, its fairly isolated and your right on the canal going to DTD. I can see where some would not like the location but we really enjoyed it. Stayed 3 nights, the resort was very clean and we had a great stay....

Glad you enjoyed your time at HHI. Thanks for the info. DW and I are going there in October and have never been before.

Also glad you liked OKW. We've stayed there twice and really enjoy the laid back feeling. The bus service is some of the best at the WDW resorts.

I-10 west of Nawlins, huh? We are about 100 miles north of N.O. on I-59 just outside of Hattiesburg, MS. Nice to know there are other DISboarders in the general area.

Glad you enjoyed two of our favorite resorts. My DH and DD are private pilots. If you ever stay at Vero (another favorite) you should try to take the tour of the Piper plant they have there.
