Trip Report from the Boardwalk (10/10 - 10/12/2008) with pics

You have gorgeous pictures of the boardwalk. I love it there because we were married there. can't wait to visit it again on our anniversary trip.

So what is the "Attic Lounge"? Can you buy drinks there? What floor is it on? Funny, I did not know that was at the BWV.

The Attic Lounge is on the 3rd floor - go towards room 3001 and as you wind your way that way, you'll find it -- we saw some signage along with the room numbers. I think it is private-function room but didn't ask about it -- like others, I hadn't heard of it before, so I went off to explore :)

Thanks for the report. I leave for the Boardwalk Inn (normally stay at the Villas - but no rooms available) in 10 days to do the Tower of Terror 13K race with my SIL. I can't wait and your report got me even more pysched! I just LOVE that resort and the location. Glad you had fun!

DH wants to do the Tower of Terror 13K next year - so I need to mark my calendar for 7 months out to see if we can luck into a room at BWV for that, too. When we booked for this past weekend, it was right at 7 months out AND we got the last 1BR in inventory that day. Our 1BR was a dedicated, too. I was looking for the connecting door and didn't find it.

And yeah, the slide is awesome for wearing out kids - what a great work-out for them.

The Boardwalk is one of the few resorts that we have yet to stay at. I love it's
whimsy and location. I hope to someday(soon!). :goodvibes

nzdisneymom,
When I booked our "spontaneous" trip for October (in July), I called and found that ALL DVC 1 BR and Studio rooms were booked up during that weekend. A couple days here and there, but nothing I could piece together.

But, I checked the race page out - they had a special number to call for hotels for the race - the Boardwalk Inn, Pop Century and I think Caribbean Beach Resort. They had availability (they saved a block of rooms for race participants) and a decent rate of $293 per night for BWI - so I grabbed it. My SIL and I are splitting the room and then we don't need a car rental - so I was happy with it. It is my SIL's first trip - so I thought BWI would be a great location for us!

I have heard mixed reviews on the race itself, but the race was more of an excuse just to go to Disney. I can't wait! Running 8 miles at 10pm in Orlando humidity is now sounding daunting... but oh well. It is Disney! :)

We were at the BWV 9/20-26. We loved it as well but we were the last room on the 4th floor 4002. A long, long hike from the lobby. The first night we stayed in a BW view studio. We really love the view and hope to be able to get a BWV 2 brm next fall.

I'm familiar with the Disney Marathons but these other races I have not heard of before...where can I find info on them?

It was originally supposed to be a member's lounge to watch Illuminations. Instead, it was turned into a private function room. That's what makes BLT members nervous about the lounge on top of the Contemporary. It could suffer a similiar fate (there are disclaimers in the paperwork saying it is not owned by the timeshare).

Aww.... love the pictures, thanks for sharing. I've never stayed at the Boardwalk, it looks nice :)

Hello,

Just to comment on the picture of the rugs. I stayed at the Boardwalk Villas in September 2008 and found the rugs, especially the ones by the elevator, to be in need of replacement. Didn't you?

dvcforlee,
You are welcome. Now I really want to do the Disney Princess half marathon in March 2009. My DD and I now have annual passes - so we could just fly down for that weekend and I could run that race! But, I suppose 3 trips to the World in 6 months might make my family think I am nuts! :lmao:

I love the luscious green lawn.... always wanted to have a picnic there. I remember the DVC sales video of BWV back in 1996 and they showed people picnicing there... have never seen it in real life. Is that allowed? or just an advertising shot?
